A very good sleeve type expanding mandrel for all your turning needs
It's an expanding mandrel. good surface hardness, was unmarred using it with annealed 4140 steel. locks well and square in a machined bore. Got the job done for me. Best advice is to turn between centers with a dog. There's not much of a non tapered end to grab on to. Between centers with a bit of tapping got me <0.001 TIR on the part I was machining using this. Good enough for my needs.

Carefully deburr before using
Finishing could be a bit better. After hardening and grinding, there were a lot of burrs that were not removed. Some of these burrs could interfere with the fit of the sleeve on the arbor, or the part on the sleeve, and introduce runout. The price is pretty good though. I just wish more sizes were available. I have 1/2"-9/16" and 9/16"-21/32" and would like to complete this set up to 1" or at least 7/8" but the sizes required have been out of stock for many months.
