In general, yes; unless you have a TDS bundle. You would keep the crappy TDS router for their cable TV and bridge the eero system for your WiFi.

I have satellite wifi with no ethernet. do i have to have ethernet or just plug coax in ?

You need an Ethernet cable from the modem to this unit and then you can connect all other devices wireless
