Silent Dreams: Modern Standard Arabic Reader (Modern Standard Arabic Readers)

(please note: this review is for the series as a whole)The website Lingualism has, over the past couple of years, published several 'Arabic Readers' series in various dialects of Arabic, with the modern standard series being the largest at 30 books (smaller collections also exist in Egyptian, Levantine and Maghrebi Arabic). It's difficult to exaggerate how useful these readers are. Anyone who has ever attempted to master a foreign language will tell you that extensive reading and listening are essential in the journey to fluency and these readers provide both (audio recordings can be accessed at Lingualism's website). They are certainly amongst the best Arabic language resources I have used and have provided a much needed helping hand in improving my literacy. I cannot recommend them highly enough. If you are just starting out in Arabic, they may prove a little challenging, but for those with a little grammar and vocabulary behind them, they are perfect.
