Does it have to soak first? Or can you just spray with water prior to use?

Splash and go, This one (1000) grit does not require that much water. the 320 grit (blue stone) requires lots of water....it is technically a splash and go as well, but I find that it works better for me if i soak it for a short period of time....like 5 - 10 minutes.

Is this "Shaputon 2000" REALLY the "Ha no Kuromaku KO703" by Shapton as depicted on your picture, or is it a different product?

I received a genuine Shapton product when ordered 2000 grit one. They should be the exact same performace stone as Shapton Pro range.

Is this stone two sided with varying grains? The side with writing on it seems rougher.

Thanks for the question. This grinding wheel is one-sided. It will be combined with the medium and coarse I do not need the grindstone of Me crude to make the blade.

Der 2000er Stein tut was er soll - natürlich muss man auf den gröberen Steinen gute Vorarbeit leisten, sonst bringen feinere Steine wenig, da sie nicht so viel Material abtragen.
