This is great for blanching or boiling
This is great for blanching or boiling. Just to be clear, it is NOT a steamer as it has no feet and a closure cord.If you're on the quest for the perfect silicone steamer -- that will fit into smaller pots -- and are having difficulty finding one, as I was -- this can be used as a steamer too. Here's how:Invert a not-so-great silicone steamer (feet up) in the bottom of the pan. Place this bag on top of it. If you want to close the lid, be sure to tuck the closure cord in so it won't be in the way. Now your veggies can be steamed, elevated above the water, rather than boiled. This also eliminates some of the problems posed by those steamers, like low sides that allow your veggies to topple over the edge into the water as you remove them from the pan ;) This is my "make do" improvisation for a smaller (2-qt., 7" diameter) saucepan. Since the platform steamer has holes, this works better than a small plate which only blocks the steam. Also, I bought another mesh bag identical to this one (different brand) in another color. I can now simultaneously boil two different things in the same pot, saving on water and electricity usage Obviously, this has its limitations. You wouldn't want to boil strong-flavored veggies like broccoli in the same water as something else. :)Bon appetit!

Well Designed, Easy to Use and Perfect for Sous Vide Eggs
I wasn't really looking at this as a boiling tool, but more as a tool for sous vide when I want to cook something like eggs without things bouncing around in a circulator/container combo. This served as the prefect tool for that.Pros:The mesh is actually pretty big and it's elastic to you could put a lot of stuff in there if you want. The strap is also pretty long so once everything is tied in, you can lay it in a pretty deep pot and still have quick access.Cons:There really aren't any big issues, perhaps having a little more rigidity in the shape would make it easier to put more than one in a pot, right now it basically just flops down. (I'm sure some of the good points would be defeated if that happened though)

Not for Soup
This is a good cooking mesh for ravioli or a serving or two vegetables. I ended up using it for that, and I'm satisfied.I had hoped I could use it for soup - to put the vegetables or meat that I eventually wanted to separate out after cooking. It's too small for that. I am not taking down any stars for that. This is a nice product.I just know that I found it while looking for a solution for soup - Amazon recommended it to me when I was looking at soup socks, or something like that. So if that's what you're thinking about using it for - it's probably won't work for you.But for a serving or two of ravioli, it's perfect - keeps it all together.

Boiling Eggs Is Easy
I bought this for boiling eggs and for that job it works just fine. It is very light weight and the cord is easy to adjust to loosen or tighten as needed. It will easily hold a dozen large eggs. Easy to clean. I have used mine several times and would purchase again.

Great time and energy saver
This is not exactly a frequently used item among variety of Lekue projects I own. But when I do use it, it's always proved to be very useful. The other day, I boiled water in my 4-qt pot and fist put a half dozen tomatoes in it. I need to boil tomatoes only for 20 seconds or so to peel those skins off. After I took those out, I immediately put a dozen brussels sprouts in it and boiled them. After I took those out, I boiled several eggs for my egg salad. I was able to cook those with only 1 pot and without re-boiling the water in between.

IIDEAL for hard boiling eggs and steaming veggies!
This lil bag has been soooooooo great for sous vide hard boiling of eggs AND regular boiling of eggs. I've used it for steaming bulky vegetables, too. (Cauliflower, broccoli, ... those that won't break up easily!)I love being able to 'grab' it all and pull it out of the vessel I'm cooking with. I've bought 5 of them, so the kids have them, too. GREAT ITEM!

Great for stew.
Love it! I hate onions and my husband loves them! I use this when I'm making stew in the crock pot and we are both happy. I was worried about any plastic flavor from the bag, but I've haven't had any problems with it. I wash it in the dishwasher, top shelf, and it still works great after being used at lease 10 times.

ottimi
