Even with gate open, can take a significant fall
Let’s be clear, don’t do that. But the fact that these are 22kn rated with the gate open, that’s super strong enough and gives good piece of mind. These are a lot heavier than a standard carabiner, but they are designed for rescue applications and are over built. The gate opening is extremely large and can be attached to tools or around big items such as a stokes basket. I keep several on my rack in my technical rescue bag.
