Stays Crunchy, Even In Milk
I'm a baby boomer, born in the 1950s. I can still remember when this cereal came out. Quisp and its partner cereal Quake were introduced by Quaker Oats in 1965. Initial boxes of Quisp referred to the cereal as "the vitamin powered sugary cereal... for QUAZY energy." The "crunchy corn cereal" pieces were often called "saucer-shaped" but more realistically resembled flattened or deflated round cereal pieces. The cereal tasted remarkably similar to another Quaker cereal, Cap'n Crunch. In 1969 a Quisp Beanie cereal premium was offered for 3 box tops, but who could afford 3 boxes of Quisp. Oh how I wanted to have one of them but, by the time I had accumulated enough box tops, the promotion was over. I did manage to see one at nostalgic toy show in Dallas Texas a few years ago.Texture:Stays Crunchy, Even In Milk. Remember that phrase? I do. As I recall, the Quaker Cereals were notorious for turning to mush when milk was added, so you had to eat it very fast. Well, they definitely improved on that. After eating a bowl full (equivalent to 2 serving), the roof of my mouth felt like I had been eating sandpaper. Not complaining though. If I had just eaten a single serving, I may not have experienced the sensation.Taste:As far as I can tell, and I haven't eaten any since the 1960s, it tasted as I remembered it. Definitely sugary sweet. So prepare for your sugar high.Price:No one who buys this cereal is buying it for the price. At the time of purchase (November 18, 2011), it was offered by Amazon, 6 boxes for $18.08 (3.01 per box) which is an outstanding price compared to what sellers are selling it for now and far lower than offered at the official website. Since I purchased some other items with it, I got free shipping.Overall I am very pleased with the Cereal as well as Amazon's superior pricing and service.

Fabulous and Terrible
I'm giving this item 5 stars because it is such a great conceptual cereal holdover from the 60's/70's era. Quaker Quisp was a favourite of mine as a child, and I even had the little plastic martian figurine with the spaceship. How I wish I'd have kept up with it. It has a wonderful flavour similar to Captain Crunch but with a lighter quality. I also like the fact that the colour scheme and package design haven't changed much if any. This is the "Fabulous" part of my review's title.Although this cereal is very crisp, crunchy, and tasty, it is more like candy than anything wholesome, hence the "Terrible" part of my review's title. Be careful though, the roof of one's mouth can get kind of raw because of the crunchiness of it, which I also remember happening as a child. Also, a good tooth brushing is definitely required after eating this because it gets super cemented into the molars. I'm sure this is the singular reason my parent's insurance company bought my dentist his corvetteThis is a vice item in a healthy diet enjoyed only in exchange for something equally as unhealthy. There may be essential vitamins, but the "reduced iron" probably comes from finely ground metal sourced from god only knows what scrapped manmade bit of machinery. I'm not sure about the source of the added "zinc oxide" either. Its probably made from genetically modified plant sources, and definitely has preservatives. So this is one for nostalgia's sake only.It would be great if Quaker could modify the recipe to be non-GMO, and not include preservatives or artificial colourings. If only there could be a shift of consciousness among the manufacturers of these wonderful conceptual cereals to be geared for today's changing dietary needs, I could then replace the "Terrible" with another "Fabulous". Enjoy with caution and moderation.

Blast from the past
One of my favorite cereals as a kid. I bought 6 boxes, which was probably overdoing it. Once I hit box 5 I was getting a little tired of it. I did a side by side taste test with Captain Crunch and they tasted the same. Quisp has a smoother texture and isn't quite as dense as Captain Crunch, though. 5 stars for the taste when eating the first box, and then down to three stars once I got tired of it on box 5 and 6. 5 stars for the nostalgia.

THE BEST CEREAL EVER!!
OMG! I forgot how much I LOVED this cereal! When I husband saw it, he could not believe it! He said it was his favorite cereal as a kid too!! He ate like a whole box in one sitting! My daughter (whose is 9 yrs old), kept asking questions, like, why is there an alien on the box? Can I get a stuffed animal of the alien? She liked the cereal too, but we literally had to "hide" some of the boxeS from my husband who tore through it whether it was with milk, or straight from the box!! I will DEFINATELY will be purchasing some more!! I wish they would sell Quisp again in stores!!Thanks, Amazon for a great product, at a great price and great service!

Life cereal order
A good price and delivered quickly. However, the boxes have a "best if purchased by" date that is in April of 2013. So that's the catch. We probably won't consume that much cereal prior to the suggested date. So I learned the "catch" the hard way. When I buy the cereal in the store, the date is at least 6 months away. Nothing about that in the description, although technically I got what I paid for. But unless you intend on eating the cereal relatively quickly after purchase, beware.

Love old school cereals.
Cereal came quickly. More importantly, it came undamaged (sometimes you get crumbs when you order cereal or cookies via the mail). If you haven't tried this cereal, let me tell you what it is. It is basically Captain Crunch before Captain Crunch existed. I had it as a child. My grandmother always kept it for when I came to visit her. When I saw it all these years later, I bought it for my nieces and nephews (and me). They got a big kick out of it. They had never seen it before. Good stuff.
