Facelift for your old Toyota
Bought these after my headlight got smashed parking in the city for my 2009 Toyota Corolla. The original had silver housing and these have black housings which are apparently in and give a sporty look. I bought because the price was right. It looks like my 220k Toyota got a facelift. I recommend upgrading all your bulbs at the same time, as you have to take the whole bumper off to replace and may as well save yourself time from having to do it again to replace the bulbs.

Just like factory ones
Didn’t expect them to be exactly like factory ones . 10/10

Great valve, good product better than OEM
I bought this for my 2009 Corolla mainly because the original 15 year old headlights were faded, and I have been polishing the headlights at least every other year. Plus they were originally made with all chromed plastic on the inside and i didn't like the way that looked against my Black Sand Pearl paint. These housing had a black trim finish under the lense which i think looks so much better than the chrome, with the low cost of these (just a little over $100 when i bought them) I didn't have much to loose. The installation was straightforward if you're handy and not afraid to do things yourself, overall it took me about an hour to swap out both headlights and the vehicle looks better and with the new Diode Dynamics SL-1 LED lights that i retrofitted into the new housings, the lights are so much better

Knockoff - Not good quality, not well built.
Knockoff - Not good quality, not well built. As you can see by one of the photos there was a need for our 2010 Corolla to have a new headlight assembly installed, in pairs to match each other post installation. The scope of the project requires jacking up the vehicle for easier access to some of the underside fasteners, and a removal of the bumper body panel that covers the front of the vehicle. Although not extremely difficult preparation, it is not exactly easy either unless weather and all other variables are at the right place and time. The manufacturer of the vehicle did a good job of making this an owner oriented project, and the whole process can be found on the internet.Unfortunately, these replacement headlight assemblies created several installation problems simply by being cheap knockoffs instead of well-built replacement parts (SEE PHOTOS).LIME GREEN CIRCLED AREAS: Found in two photos, the green circled areas are indicating the centered bore of the original factory installed headlight assembly on the left, compared to the incorrectly offset bore of the knockoff on the right. Being offset, the plug that holds the light bulb cannot be securely installed; it can only be barely wedged in place and the body plastic seemed too soft to hold it in place long (see reference to body plastic in the SKY BLUE CIRCLED AREA paragraph below). Sure, silicone sealant may have helped but that would have required waiting until cured or risk getting it everywhere. In addition, silicone now would prevent easy bulb replacement later. My “solution” can be found in my summary paragraph.DARKER BLUE CIRCLED AREAS: Can you see that the original tab on the left has a metal zip nut on it? The knockoff does not and it is absolutely needed for installation. You’ll need to bend the original a bit, pry it off and re-use it on the knockoff. Since there are NO instructions you could very easily miss this step which could compromise a secure installation. Could that cause a “bouncing” headlight beam on bumpy roads?SKY BLUE CIRCLED AREAS: This tab is for a “peg into matching hole” type of alignment and attachment of the headlight assembly. Unfortunately it is the wrong size and not quite in the right place, indicating a necessity for enlarging the mis-sized hole in the field. It was during the re-sizing that I affirmed that the knockoff’s black body portion is a softer (likely polyethylene) plastic than was used for manufacturing the original (likely ABS) plastic.RED CIRCLED AREAS: Please note that the original assembly on the left has a black hard plastic light bulb retainer flange and that the knockoff has a (thin) metal flange. Although only one location is shown, the same condition exists for both the low and high beam locations. Where this came into being a problem is after the installation, I turned on my lights and found that the newly installed LED high beams flickered. In order to get the car back into use I needed to put the original high beam lightbulbs back in, however they were stuck in place and could not be removed by turning the bulb. I had to unscrew the three small screws around each light bulb to pull it the light bulbs. The reason turned out to be that the metal retainer flange has a sharp metal barb pressed against the lightbulb and when turning the lightbulb to remove, it galls into the plastic of the bulb base which makes it impossible to remove without removing the flange. The original assembly hard plastic flange had a small detent bump on the back side that held the bulb in place yet allowed easy removal when needed.SUMMARY: I purchased these based upon a lot of high point reviews. I strongly suspect that these reviews are based upon a feeling of happiness due to the initial ‘new’ appearance. Unfortunately, after my installation difficulties evolved, I discovered there are later reviews suggesting that there are post-installation leak related electrical, beam casting and appearance problems that may be ahead. For me, this is an old car and with only the right (passenger) side headlight assembly actually damaged I plan on finding a factory junk-yard part, clean and polish them both, and re-install everything instead of taking a risk with any other copycats.MY RATING SYSTEM: Ratings are based on my personal use and research. All items are in the middle “average”3.0-Star until I discover otherwise. Only whole point scoring is recorded so partial scores will be rounded up at half point or more and down if under half point. Rating scores are occasionally revised at a later date; if that is the case an explanation will be provided in the particular review. Thank you.5-STAR = Much better than advertised and/or expected. Claims are realistic; ratings & certifications are appropriate and checked out where possible. Exceeds 4-STAR. “ WOW” kind of items definitely to be recommended.4-STAR = As expected or better. Claims are realistic; ratings & certifications are appropriate and checked out where possible. Fairly priced, good quality & usability, not likely to fall apart. “KEEP & USE” items to be recommended or purchased again repeatedly as needed.3-STAR - As expected. Claims are realistic; ratings & certifications are appropriate and checked out where possible. Items are good quality, well finished, and priced fairly however nothing stands out. Examples include mass-produced “ME-TOO” items for sale under many different names.2-STAR = Not as good as expected. The item works, but does not quite meet specifications of 3 STAR or better as described above. “NEEDS IMPROVEMENT”1-STAR = Far below expectation. Claims, ratings, certifications are blatantly inaccurate and/or inappropriate. Low quality possibly resulting in failure, injury or worse; poor durability. “NOT RECOMMENDED”
