Dark Tan Leather Book Weight D1130

The product picture doesn't do it justice. It's real leather, and hefty, with a suede back. It looks beautiful, well-made, and durable, and it comes in a nice-looking box. (In other words, this would make a classy and long-lasting gift.) I just need it to hold books open while I take notes, and it does the trick for that. I also just like how it feels. I'm buying another one right now, so I can keep one in each of my primary reading locations.

I just bought a second, having misplaced my first: it does exactly what I needed of it - hold books open when reading at a table - and is, further, a thing of beauty. It's simple, quality leather, and the weights give it a pleasing heft. Some reviewers complain it didn't hold open their books: I can see that a particularly tightly bound volume might cause it problems, it's not a metal bar, but I find that it works fine for something the size and weight of a Norton's anthology (hardback or paperback), or of course smaller.

Well- made and looks classy

Looked at these a couple years ago but didn't purchase one. Bought a different type of book holder. My husband didn't like the one I purchased so it sat unused. Bought him this one and he absolutely loves it. Now he can sit at the kitchen table reading his book while heeats his sandwich. He's a happy camper......

Pretty, nice leather, gave as a gift to my roommate but we're keeping it on the dining room table for all to use! Nice for those of us who like to read while we eat (or on cold days when you want to keep your hands in your pockets!).Also a great coffee table piece to make people guess what it is.Would likely make a good multi-purpose weapon, as the weights are fairly heavy.

A professor a few semesters ago recommended a book weight and while it is possible to use other objects to keep a book open (cell phone, other books, and so on), it is helpful to have an actual book weight. It does sometimes take some trial and error to decide which side of the weight to use on a given book. Sometimes, it works best with the finished leather side facing down and others times with this side up.

Works great. Good size and weight. Leather is good. Suede page side leather is good. Works and is great for the price.

I should have listened to the other reviews. This is too light to work for most books. Well made and pretty but if it does not work it does not work.
