Is there anything spookier than a silent feline, eyes glinting, stalking you in the night...IN YOUR OWN HOME?? Master of horror Junji Ito turns his twisted eye on his own life in this comedic graphic memoir about becoming a cat owner, now reissued in a deluxe hardcover featuring an exclusive interivew with Ito and a NEW cover illustration by the author that GLOWS IN THE DARK! The perfect gift for the slightly-twisted cat lover in your life. Reigning king of horror manga Junji Ito presents a series of hissterical tales chronicling his real-life trials and tribulations of becoming a cat owner. Junji Ito, as J-kun, has recently built a new house and has invited his financée, A-ko, to live with him. Little did he know...his blushing bride-to-be has some unexpected company in tow--Yon, a ghastly-looking family cat, and Mu, an adorable Norwegian forest cat. Despite being a dog person, J-kun finds himself purrsuaded by their odd cuteness and thus begins his comedic struggle to gain the affection of his new feline friends. Review: A Lovely Addition to Your Junji Ito Collection or for Horror Fan Cat Owners - Although I own the last release of Cat Diary I ordered this one for my collection since my cat got eye gunk on my paperback copy ironically. It is a nice, large hardbound book. The new cover illustration is really cool and the glow in the dark effect is actually pretty cool. The story about becoming a cat person with the visual horror tropes of Ito make for a hilarious romp through cat ownership from the eyes of someone who didn't grow up with cats. If you are a fan of Mr. Ito's works or if you are a cat owner who likes horror you should enjoy this one. There wasn't much new material over the paperback copy but the quality of this edition makes it worthwhile to upgrade. Review: Great Quality - Glows in the dark and everything!

A different kind of Ito
This book is definitely different from Junji Ito's other stories. It's much more light hearted, and very cute at times. As a cat owner, I smiled throughout 90% of the book. I did tear up a little in the last chapter. The art as always with Ito is amazing. The stories are fun, feel good moments cat owners will relate to. Not sure if I'd recommend it to every Ito fan. But I love it and I'm happy to add it to my Ito collection!

A great book for someone who loves how horrific cats can be!
This was a gift for someone who is a big Junji Ito fan and what stuck out to me was the quality of this book to the point that I almost didn't want to give it away as a gift a year or so ago! I couldn't help but flip through the pages considering the quality of it. Funny enough, we gave the same gift to each other so it all worked out to the end. If you're a fan of this artist and author, as well as a fan of cats including how bizarre and gross they are sometimes -- you will adore this personal story of owners who adore their pets.

Delightfully Hilarious and Adorably Horrific!
I read this book in one sitting last night and really enjoyed it. Junji Ito is one of Japan’s leading horror manga artists; he’s probably most well known for creating Uzimaki, which I absolutely loved. I actually love all his horror manga books. This book was a surprise, a sweet comedy about his first time living with two cats. It’s really cute, and adorably “horrific.” It’s almost like a parody of his own work, and his portrayal of cats is hilarious and lovable. If you like Ito’s work, and cats, you’ll probably love this book as much as me. (Also: I noticed someone gave this book a two star review because the book arrived with damaged corners. This is really a disservice to the author/artist, who poured his creativity, heart and soul into this, and has zero control over how distributors ship it.)

Another wonderful Junji Ito story in hardcover!
+ Finally, a hardcover edition! This one leans toward slice of life and comedy, but with his signature art style that keeps it a little eerie at times. It's short and sweet. - My only complaint isn't about the story itself, but that my book arrived with a number of pages bent in half under the cover and with printing shortages I may need to refund or replace later if new copies come in stock within the refund period. I know it's rare that this happens, but I guess I was the "lucky" one this time. I'll have to try weighing the book down for now.

Great stories and awesome art.
Ito Junji is a master no matter what he does. His horror take on owning cats is hilarious and chilling all in one. A great read.

Amazing book
Got two copies because I thought I lost the first one. Probably my favourite book of Junji's just because it comes from a comedy rather than a horror perspective, but still features his classic horror based artistic style in story telling. This is a book closely related to Ito's life and seeing the photos of the cats in the middle pages just make them all the more real, I feel like I really got to know Yon and Mu through this book. A must if you're an Ito fan
