Fantastic Dutch Oven!
Bought this for my mom for xmas. She loves red and is now in love with dutch oven cooking. Heat retention on this thing is incredible. She uses a gas cooktop and loves this for its ability to be used on almost everything. Very Versatile. WIN!

Beautiful & Funcitonal
I had been wanting a new dutch oven for a long time, and I decided to splurge on this one. I've baked bread in it multiple times, and made some really yummy stews. It gets extremely hot, so you need to monitor closely when cooking. You can most definitely see the difference with Staub and Le Creuset cookware. They're sturdy, durable and very well made. With proper care, they will last a lifetime. I have other Staub and Le Creuset cookware, and the quality is great as well. Just be aware that they're very heavy before you even cook anything, so get ready to use some muscle. I'm happy with my purchase, and I would definitely recommend! Happy cooking!

Expensive. Worth it.
Is this pricey for a pot? Mmmmnn-hnnnn. BUT. Enameled cast iron is amazing - you can saute in it, brown meat in it, cook bacon in it, etc., to do all the starting bits of a dish, then put in the wet ingredients and make a stew or something else fabulous. And, I've used both Lodge & Le Creuset and I like Staub better for two reasons: 1) The dark surface of the interior is BETTER on a Staub. Le Creuset tends to have stains you can't get out, and browning meat sticks to the inside of a Lodge pot like glue, which ruins the crust on your meat. Staub tends to be much more non-stick and good at browning, also easier to clean. Maybe it does stain, too, but you can't see it. 2) The spikes on the inside of the lid send condensation back into your dish and make your meat come out tenderer. This size is better for me than the 5qt size, because I like to cook for a crowd, and the red color is beautiful!

Not Durable
I purchased this item as it was listed as durable and does not chip. I gave to my wife for Christmas and after approximately four (4) uses a piece of the lid fell off while being hand washed. Understand my wife treats her pots and pans as if they were her babies. She puts plastic dividers between all her pots so they do not get scratched. The lid has not been dropped, banged, nor has it been hit or hit anything. the chip just came off as she wiped it with the wash rag.

Best size best color!
If you have one STAUB Cocotte, make it this one. It’s 5 1/2 quarts and it says it on the box. I know black is not the most exciting color but it will look like new forever. Once the newness wears off you’ll be happy you bought it in black. I love all my Staub Cocottes, but it seems like this is my new go to. Just does everything right. So I had to buy the piggy knob, because it deserves it! Most sought after size of the top French brands. Treat yourself to this one you won’t be sorry, Happy cooking!
