The inside is smooth and thin. Not as smooth as microfiber cloth and does not have the thickness of felt. The outside pocket does not cover the entire front side, so does not work well as an extra cushion either while putting a bit of extra pressure at the location where the pocket ends near where the screen meets the joy-con. It does have some padding between the outside and inside layer, the end results still feels not much more than a generic minimum protection pouch with extra cartridge pocket in the front.

Sturdy carry case, and the small pouch is the exactly the right size for my anker 20100mAH portable charger, which is exactly what I was hoping for. It's not a hard shell case, so if you're looking to throw it down a flight of stairs this isn't the case for you. However, for the odd bump or light abrasion this case will hold up well, it is padded and has tough fabric and excellent build quality. I could not be happier with my purchase.

Got it for boyfriend. He loves it. Perfect for when he goes traveling.
