I am pleased to say that for me, the drive is plug and play and did not give me any problems. I used it on my 7yo Dell XPS13 laptop with Windows 10 OS. I have been archiving some old work photos, both digital (from CDs) and printed from 35mm film, and have not been able to access the contents of ten 3.5" floppies, until now. Only two floppies had anything in them (only documents, no photos), the rest were blank. I'm too cheap to pay for MS Office, so I can't open one DOC file, and I have no software for the other CCF file, but at least my curiosity has been satisfied because of this device.I almost didn't want to open the package and instead just ship it back unused, because of the negative reviews and Q&As that this device does not work with Windows 10. Even the User's Guide that came with it stated that it "can be used with the following operating systems: Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Microsoft Windows Millenium (Me), and Microsoft Windows 98." Unclear if it meant that these are the *only* OS the device works with, or is it telling you that it works with these older OS, while implying it works with *all* of the newer ones?Strange that this drive works for some people and not for others. It appears well-constructed and solid. There is a satisfying click when inserting disks, and pressing the eject button elicits a throwback swish as the disk slides out. It has foam feet at the bottom for tabletop grip. The cord is built in, not separate. As for its durability, only time will tell. It does not come with a warranty certificate.
