Lutron GL600H-IV Electronics Glyder Incandescent Slide Dimmer Switch, Ivory

We bought our house in 2000 and the bedroom light had this exact light switch in it. The knob on it recently broke off and I was sure we were going to have all sorts of problems finding something to fit without having to hire someone to refit the entire switch. The house was built in the early 80's and I never expected to find this available but low and behold, Amazon came through again, even the brand is the same. After my husband easily replaced it (and he is not any sort of handyman), we discovered after all these years that it actually clicks to an off position, all these years we never had a click at the bottom when we lowered it. The switch works perfectly and was so simple to replace, I am thrilled to have found this dimmer still being sold!

The Lutron GL600H-IV electronic glider incandescnt slide dimmer switch in ivory was exactly what I wanted and needed and it works very well. I had previously owned the product and needed a replacement. I find this type of dimmer better because you have more control of the dimming feature. I use it to control track lighting in my living room ceiling. It looks nice and more modern than the circular dimmer switches that are much more bulky and less to touch. The only downside is that the gliding mechanism is now made of cheaper material (plastic material rather than metal) which will mostly likely not last as long as my prior model which lasted about 20 years. The vendor delivered the product within the required time frame. It was fairly priced.

Installation was a breeze. I noticed some flickering at the lowest light settings at first, now they operate smoothly. I installed three of these switches in our new kitchen. Two for under cabinet lighting and one for three pendant lights over kitchen island. I like the minimalistic look to these also you can get these really set to low light, just a glow love the look

The dimmer works fine,my only reservation is that family members forget to do the "click off" part.Our house has some very expensive multi-step dimmers from other companies that may appeal to "techies" however this dimmer appeals to me as it is very straightforward to use. Kind of like analog vs. digital. Easy to dial in exact amount of dimming you want w/o programmed steps like other dimmers that sell for more.

I had installed about half a dozen of these dimmers in my house 12 years ago and they still work perfectly. The great thing about them is that the on, off, and dim functions all work with just the flick of one finger. The 'slide to off' feature means there's no need to press the button to turn the unit off. I had a hard time finding this model for an electrical project I'm working on and was thrilled to see that Amazon carries it.

Price made the decision to buy this switch instead of the many other options out there. It functions well and is easy to install. I'm giving it three stars because it's just not nice to use. Turning the light on and off requires an intentional effort, especially to make sure it's completely off. It has a final click when pushing into the off position that most kids will never do, leaving the light on at probably 5% power. Another matter of interest is the size of the switch. It's at least as big as a GFI, so make sure you leave room. If price is an issue, go for it. If you can swing the additional $10, spring for one with an on/off switch and a separate dimmer slide.

Pleased with the switch upgrade. It was simple to install and definitely feels nicer than the simple pole toggle dimmer we had which broke for some reason after a year and was blowing out light bulbs. The slider seems to have a nicer range of dimming. I don't find the "full off" to be a problem at all. You simply slide down and it has a snug notch feel to it when it's all the way off which is good assurance that it is off. Again, must nicer and less loosy goosey than the pole dimmer we had. Good product on the cheap!

Under 7$ to my door? Sign me up. I've bought several more expensive dimmers recently, this one is as good or better for under half the price. It does not come with a wall plate, but it will fit right in your wife's fancy designer regular single throw plate so you don't need one unless you already have something different you are replacing. I liked this one so much that a few weeks after use, I ordered four more to do the rest of the rooms I had been thinking about doing but didn't have the money to spring for. Great value and solid quality. Quick shipping and all as well, A++++.
