The colors are more muted than expected, and the picture not as sharp, but I actually like them this way. I think these mugs are a little overpriced, especially considering a lot of reviewers said that the bone china stains (inside the mug) ... BUT, regardless, I love these mugs! I bought a bunch of them to make a set of squirrel mugs. They make me happy, and even my husband seems to like them :)
