Kuna Art and Artifacts: The material culture of the Kuna Indians of Panama and Colombia

Intimate, knowledgeable account of Kuna culture, history and its people.
I loved the white-knuckle account of landing the "Don Tiki" - a 45 foot dugout canoe - through giant rollers. I got a sense of life among the Kuna (now Guna) that I never had before. It's not paradise, but you get a real sense of the people who live in San Blas, why their art is important to their very survival, and their 500-year resilience to the dominant Western culture they have to negotiate.
