Selena: Performances [Super Jewel]

This has some of my favorite Selena performances. They effectively showcase not only the power and range of her beautiful voice, but the exquisitely graceful dance moves that only Selena could do. Plus, during Como La Flor there is an incident where a little girl appears on stage with flowers, it surprises Selena, and how she reacted to this just grabs my heart every time I see this. Just an example of the inner beauty and soul of the special human being that was Selena. In these performances she always gave 100 %, no matter what the crowd size. Another favorite selection that showed the mischievous side of Selena was during the awesome song, Que Creias, when she decided to involve Johnny Canales in an obviously unplanned spontaneous act. He was surprised by what she did and I laugh ever time I see this, because she was so natural but somewhat intimidating, in a humorous way. The crowd also found this quite humorous as you can hear the laughter and cheers for her. The more I watch these DVD's of Selena's performances, the more I want to see and hear them again. SHE STILL LIVES BECAUSE OF THESE.

I'll start with the good. The footage of Selena is great. While many of these perfomances are available to view online on other sites, the quality is much better on this DVD. The audio is also highly improved. It's worth buying if you are a serious Selena fan. Now to the bad. I have to say that after years of false imformation about the release of this DVD, I feel a bit let down. There could of been a lot more footage included. I was also excited to read the titles of the segments featuring Johnny Canales speaking about Selena- they were listed in English. However, when I watched the DVD every one of his segements were in Spanish with no subtitle option. This was a big disapointment for me. I would have loved to hear what he had to say about Selena as she was a friend and frequent perfomer on his show, but because I don't speak Spanish I coulnd't understand most of what he said. I know I'm not the only non-Spanish speaking Selena fan out there, so I feel they let down a large segment of her fan base. Overall, this DVD was not really what it seemed like it was going be, but it's still worth purchasing.

Beautiful performances, both visually and musically, from one of the greatest singers of this generation. This DVD sadly reminds real music lovers everywhere of what a great loss was suffered when Selena was murdered twenty years ago.

Great performances remembered of someone who was taken out of life before her time only because of greed of another person.

Any Selena fan will adore this item. If you don't speak Spanish very well or know any Spanish, I do recommend subtitles, though. Everything Johnny Canales says is in Spanish.

There are only three appearances on this disk.I thought we might get a song from each appearance....but no!Because I love Selena I gave it 3 stars, but I really feel they cheatedSelena and me.

I gave the 5 star rating to her performances. She was a great artist and very kind person. The only thing I didn't like was that the case was cracked.

I was so disappointed with this DVD.......most of the DVD has people talking and I guess it is Johnny Canales that talks and talks to Selena.......It looks like he thinks HE is the star and funny man. She sings very few songs, and although good, just are not enough. Really a waste of money and misleading with the title that should have been "Very few Performances. Quite mad that I got mislead and missed the enjoyment of such a fabulous singer
