The Battle Creek pad provides the deepest, most therapeutic heat and moisture of any pad I have ever used.The reason for the press-switch is a safety measure. If you had a simple on/off toggle, and fell asleep, I think you would be woken by the pain of a significant skin burn. This pad is potent!I use masking tape to hold the switch in the on position, loosening the tape when the heat reaches the point of being unbearable. I expect Battle Creek is aware of this practice because the switch on this model automatically turns off the heat after 20 minutes, so protecting those who do fall asleep.You won't find a better source of therapeutic heat out there.
