Well built, and not much play
This is my first and maybe only pocket knife/folding knife. I like the original design of the Russian one. This one is safer, but extending the blade on the Russian one is less awkward. I'm not into collecting knives, so this more than enough for my needs.I wanted to give my kitchen knives a break and get a proper folding knife. I bought this one so I can also use it for many purposes: camping, fish filleting food prep, and a rustic knife and fork. I really like that I can store it in my desk caddy and have it ready for opening packages and cutting up paper and old mail, eating, and hopefully never for home defense. I have a giant Archie McPhee pencil as a classroom prop (it's a real pencil) and I can use this to sharpen it. I like not seeing the blade when it's stored away. It's very safe to handle and it's a tactile delight. It's aesthetically pleasing. It's a very unique and interesting knife. It doesn't have as much play as what I could hear in the comparison video. Maybe Lord & Field has improved the design. It needed more sharpening. It cut through paper with more resistance than what I'm used to with my kitchen knives. It's sharp enough for most, but I'm used to really sharp blades, so I had to sharpen mine up a bit more.

Extremely affordable, multi-purpose, knife and fork set
I was looking for a similar designed knife to the Russian version of this knife that was a little more affordable than 300$. With this knife I found it. It’s perfect for a simple pack carry camping experience. Whether you use it as a filet knife for fishing or you use it for a knife and fork for eating it has many options available. Having the quick access to a filet lengthen knife or a small hand held knife is extremely useful when out in the wilderness. I would highly recommend this for anyone with serious or casually camping in mind.

A wonderful replica of the original.
Fantastic knife! I saw a video on YouTube about this knife and the one being reviewed had a lot more play and lower tolerance than the original Russian version. It wobbled when fully assembled. As soon as I received mine, I assembled it and it's just as nice and firm as the original! So I am very happy with my purchase. It's almost too nice to use. What I really enjoy about it is that when I hold it in my hand locked in the unopened position (both pieces together with the blade tucked in ), it feels like I'm holding some ancient scroll or relic of some type. It has a very nice feel and weight to it. A great functional show piece that makes me feel proud to own!

Near perfect
The middle ring was a slightly loose, is made with aluminum, and doesnt slot tightly. Blade is EXTREMELY sharp right outta the box! Solid wood handles could need to be stippled for better grip.
