I’ve had TiVo it was first introduced in 1999 and cost $600. While I’ve had a couple of lemons along the way, and it’s annoying that I have to have cable cards to use them, and that they haven’t kept up in some areas (like their failure to publish codes to make their remotes work with many sound bars), I love how they consolidate many apps and enable searches across them into one place. When one of my 12 year old Premiers finally started failing, I was nervous about buying a new one. I did my research and found that there was not much of a reason to buy their newest model, the Edge, and since this seller combines lifetime service with their reconditioned Bolt models, I took a chance and bought one 3 months ago. I’m so glad I did. It works perfectly and I saved a LOT with the lifetime subscription included. And the Bolt is a great improvement over the old Premier, which had apps like Netflix but they loaded SO painfully slowly. All the apps load very quickly on the Bolt. If you’ve never tried TiVo this is a great way to do it.

Very easy to use and great to have a lifetime service

Purchased Refurb Tivo Bolt through Tivo's store on here. Unit was already activated by Amazon so I can't activate on my Tivo account. Called the Tivo customer service number that was on the tv during set up. Woman answers and asks the usual name, address, phone & puts me on hold. Few seconds later a man comes on, Told him I was being helped and he said that was ok he can help now. Same routine verify account with name, address, phone. He puts me on hold only this time I'm listening to some kind of ad. He gets back on and asks a question about verification to which I have to answer yes. The he asks which cc I used for this account for monthly billing. I don't recall what I used years ago so I tell him one I commonly use. In less than a minute I get a call on my landline from my bank's fraud dept. Seems I was no longer talking to Tivo customer service. I hang up and go to Tivo's site online & open a service ticket for problem. Got a case number & it said will be contacted within 24 hrs. That was 2 days ago. Have heard nothing. Tivo customer service is non existent.

Positives: Great way to cut the cord. Fantastic picture quality. Lots of good features and I could go on and on about them.Negatives: My Wife only has one good eye, is near deaf, and cannot read the CLOSED CAPTIONS on the screen because they are too small. It is possible to edit them to increase the size, but only when registered when using the Amazon Prime Video form. Problem is, the 6 digit REGISTRATION CODE number is rejected on the Amazon Prime Video Registration form and the number is NOT where it says it is. Registration was simple via TV, you just input the six number/letter Code shown on the TV into your PC when registering your device @ www.amazon.com/mytv and it says SUCCESS, you are now registered with Amazon, but the same six number/letter Code is rejected when inputting same into the amazon Prime Video form for editing the closed caption font/size/background. If Amazon can reject the Code, Amazon knows the Code and should give it to the customer when proven they are who they say they are. Amazon obviously has two different Registration Codes, one to register Prime Video and one for Amazon.

I was a little worried about ordering this as a replacement for a Tivo Series 4, but I'm really glad I did. First the Tivo and remote look like new and work great. I was concerned that transferring the lifetime membership would be a hassle, but all that was required was to have a chat session with Tivo support and it was handled flawlessly. Also a great update is that Bolt and Tivo remote work over RF so I can place the Tivo in a cabinet. Overall I'm really pleased that I have a new Tivo with lifetime service at a great price.

I have been a TiVo user for 20 years. I think they are the best for watching TV when you want to. Just set shows to record and watch when you want to. I bought this to replace my previous Bolt Vox. Six months into the previous one the hard drive crashed. TiVo replaced it for $50.00 and it lasted about two years and that hard drive crashed. This one I bought was thru WeakNees. I have heard of them and their reputation and have confidence that this one will last for a longer. Heat seems to be a factor. Weaknees has set the new unit to go into standby mode when not in use. this should help with heating up problem.

I'm a Tivo user for years and bought this to replace an older unit (still working) that only had 2 tuners. Seems like lately, too many shows we want to record are on at the same time and the 2 tuner Tivo couldn't do the job. Only complaint is the newer TV guide on the Bolt. I preferred the layout of the older version of the guide that I had on the old Tivo.

I didn't know you need a card from your cable company and cox stopped selling the card a year ago. I had to return it.
