The Iliad & The Odyssey Paperback – 10 Feb. 2021

This is an absolutely gorgeous book, gold gilt edging, bonded leather cover with silver and orange gilt layers lightly embossed on the cover, it's quite heavy too, the only flaw I find with this edition is that an older Samuel Butler translation in prose rather than a more modern translation like Richmond latimore in lyrics, but nevertheless this was a great buy and at the price an absolute steal.

I bought the hardback version of this (leather bound) and I must say it’s beautiful. The description doesn’t say but this version is the Canterbury Classics hardback and the translation is the one by Samuel Butler. Absolutely beautiful printing of this classic tale and would make a lovely gift. The page edges are in gold leaf also. Stunning.

Lovely piece of creative writing. I am not sure whether it is a cultural thing or lack of historical knowledge of that era - perhaps a bit of both - because except for the age-old masculinity rules perceptions, I could not readily grasp the philosophical intention. But what a tale, suffice to say that I know of people being sectioned for less today (lol)! Nevertheless, glad it is in prose and I enjoyed the read - bucket list ticked.Pretty book design of good quality; rather heavy so might be a bit awkward for some folks. Speedy delivery and on time.

A book happily put on shelf after being read of course, beautifully presented and happily added to collection

Quality of book was pristine but Amazon should really package books in a plastic cover since the book got wet (due to rain) when it was delivered. It was recoverable though.

I love this book.I had never read either of these books so this was a good chance to do so.I am part way through Iliad and I am really enjoying it.The quality of the book itself is really good. The pages are not too thin and the cover looks great. The first thing I done when I took it out of the box it came in was go straight on Amazon and look at what other books they have.I plan on getting more so that my book shelf looks nice and sophisticated.

I'm not writing about the content as it is well know. I would recommend to buy this edition of you want your bookshelf to look pretty.

A lovely looking book in great condition.

I’ve recently started collecting books and this one caught me by surprise when it arrived as I didn’t expect it to look as good as it did. Thankfully it was also perfectly sealed and in perfect condition. It is so nice and collectible and looks great on the shelf. I may opt to read a paperback version because I want to preserve the collectibility of this one.

It's a single volume, contains both the Iliad and Odyssey. The cover is beautiful, with golden details. Worth the price.
