Android ok, Windows flaky, iPhones failed, 2.4 ghz issues, 5ghz wifi fail, returned
Even though I could have had this product for nearly free if I had provided a 5 star review, I choose to be honest here. Note this is a review for the MPIO Wireless HDMI as see a number of Chromecast reviews here.Firstly, the packaging and feel of the dongle is fine. It plugged into the TV HDMI and all seemed good. The next part is connecting temporarily to the MPIO device (a Mirascreen derivative) where you encounter a very basic web page to set up the wifi password and some features. The initial fail was trying to connect to my Wifi. Initially it would not let me select 5ghz and as I have different SSIDs it immediately became obvious that it was only seeing the 2.4ghz access points. However even with my 2.4ghz access point I got increasingly frustrated at the error message I got every time I tried to connect it. This in the end seemed to be because it couldn't handle AES Wifi encryption and fell back on the very weak TKIP which I block (even tried the horribly poor WPA but still no connection). Having created a specific wifi access point for this and connected my Android / laptop / iPhones through this new connection, I checked for the latest firmware (it was 1.10505.0) and then tried connecting the iPhones. Both could see the MPIO dongle but neither would connect. I did manage to get my Samsung Android to work however it did object to connecting to the MPIO unless the MPIO had its own wifi connection working. The laptop was just inconsistent with frustrating periods of failing to connect and then it would work for a while. Note I did find for a desktop PC that a 2.4ghz wifi dongle that passed all the Windows Wireless display tests would not connect but changing to another make of dongle did, so beware that Miracasting itself is a bit flimsy.I also noted comments from other reviews whether there is 5ghz or not. The display on mine suggested it did, and having connected at 2.4ghz from the MPIO and then cleared ('forget') that connection, the option for 5ghz became selectable. This then showed on the screen display - however at that point all wifi access was lost to it, and via a wifi scanning app I saw no sign of any 5ghz signal. I manually restarted the dongle (not factory reset) and I noticed it had fogotten about using 5ghz and was displaying 2.4ghz again. At that point (and I generally like a challenge), I got the return process going! So in summary:1) Some success in Android and Windows2) Complete fail for iPhones (and when in use they have to use the MPIO as their wireless router if they don't have a sim card)3) Debatable whether the device has 5ghz capability, was buggy or actually unlucky and a 5ghz hardware faultMy issue is that there are still many good reviews (admittedly how many are Amazon Gift card induced?). and are all these Mirascreen derivatives the same or has Mirascreen let suppliers tinker and potentially impact the wider brand? For me, now very shy of getting anything Mirascreen.

Compatibility variable, and streaming over WiFi is buffering
It took me a while to figure out that this is a Miracast device not Chromecast. It does work with my Android phone using Miracast but is best for sharing still pictures. I found problems with buffering occurring when trying to stream a video from the web, probably because it's all trying to use the same wifi bandwidth simultaneously with the cast data. I also had to use a USB extension cable for the power as the included lead was very short. In summary, it did work with my phone but it didn't do every use case that I had hoped for.

A great piece of kit.
We have 3 TV screens set up in a showroom, all sharing the same input. We plugged the dongle in, gave it power and within 5 minutes we had a Windows 10 laptop playing YouTube videos, as well as a Teams call on iOS and an Android connected. Once we’d made minor adjustments to the positioning of the antenna we were good to go with no problems. Very happy with this purchase.

Satisfied
Easy to set up by following the steps of the instructions,WIFI required, and remember to turn on the smartview on Android or the screen mirroring on iPhone, only need to set up one time on TV to phone, don't need to set up again even using different phone as long as using the same WiFi. Watching YouTube on TV has better view than on phone. So satisfied.

Just what I needed
Easy set up, worked out of the box. I bought a Chromecast for use when travelling and then found that it never worked on hotel wifi systems although we use it to watch Netflix at home on a sumb tv. This dongle connects easily to my tablet and mirrors the screen immediately. I ignored the Google Home set up instructions as they had already led me up the wrong track.

Completely and utterly useless
The streaming quality is very poor, with frequent image freezes. Moreover the software does not compensate for the different aspect ratios between iphone/ipad and tv screen, so you can choose between a very small image on your tv (about half the size of the tv) or else see a stretched image width (fat people). I got a Chromecast device instead, which works much, much better.
