It's about 2 inches ,but you have to consider where the battery goes. I love this clock ! And it keeps perfect time. Maybe not that thick .What ever the case, I'm very satisfied.

no, there is no place to hang a pendulum

It’s a plastic lens- not glass. It’s very lightweight but that’s nice for hanging and it looks more expensive on the wall than it is. I like this clock a lot for the price.
