PPI PE Power Practice Problems, 4th Edition – Over 400 Electrical Engineering Practice Problems for the NCEES PE Electrical Power Exam

I have used 4 other PE power study guides (including the NCEES book) that are much cheaper and this book is nothing like the others. I returned this book because it seems like roughly 70% of questions just don't apply for the PE Power test and it's a waste of my time to even put the effort into them. I really feel bad for anybody that bought only this book and thought they would be prepared for test day. Do yourself a favor and buy different material on this site.As a reviewer from the 3rd edition put it,"This book covers a lot of unnecessary topics which are usually a part of FE electrical exam. More than half the book contains irrelevant topics that will not be tested in PE power exam. The topics that are useful for PE power end up having too few practice problems and doesn't cover the depth of the topics. Its a complete waste of my money. "The first 22 chapters cover fundamentals/theories and are irrelevant to the test. The topics that those chapters cover aren't even listed as test topics according to the NCEES. Those chapters may have been useful for the FE, but in this case, would be a waste of time and brain space to work on and be confident in solving those problems. For some reason, this book doesn't focus on the weighting of course topics that NCEES explicitly lists on their website (i.e an equal amount of lighting questions versus AC motor questions, a ton of DC motor questions, logic block diagrams, questions about transistors and op amps). It truly does feel like it would be more helpful for someone taking the FE.A good amount of questions are worded in way to get you thinking (somewhat of a trick question style) and make sure you understand the fundamentals, but at the cost of ignoring industry standards of how the question should be worded (i.e. listing a 3-phase transformer in L-N voltages instead of L-L voltages. Some users may see this as a good thing to get the mind going, but to me it's disingenuous just because it can be.

Good review for EE PE exam. Updated in 2021 covers most of the problems On the exam.

Not good studying material for PE exam

I expected the book to have several problems related to the NCEES handbook, with explanations.No, most of the problems are not included in the NCEES handbook, like DC motors, confusing you further and taking you off track.Don't buy it!
