Better to just buy a new valve...
Every year I get to locate and repair a couple of sprinkler valves. I have an 18 zone system so it just comes with the territory. I have tried just replacing the diaphragm, the solenoids, etc. Never seems to work. I believe the simplest thing to do is keep your model valve in stock and just replace the entire top of the valve body complete when one has a problem. My hardware store charges $10 for just a diaphragm so you really are not saving much money especially if it doesn't work. Also, the jar top valves get really tight after a few years. I use oil filter pliers like these to get them loose:https://www.amazon.com/WORKPRO-W114083A-Oil-Filter-Pliers/dp/B07H4PB5QM/ref=sxin_16_pa_sp_search_thematic_sspa?content-id=amzn1.sym.d5d2dbeb-b217-4d41-ad6b-bc4af55d7521%3Aamzn1.sym.d5d2dbeb-b217-4d41-ad6b-bc4af55d7521&crid=27G1RHWKTJEWM&cv_ct_cx=channel+lock+oil+filter+plier&keywords=channel+lock+oil+filter+plier&pd_rd_i=B07H4PB5QM&pd_rd_r=63126cd0-b9b4-4172-a5da-1ff565fd1127&pd_rd_w=C79lp&pd_rd_wg=HXX0h&pf_rd_p=d5d2dbeb-b217-4d41-ad6b-bc4af55d7521&pf_rd_r=44T5RA7ZG7HA54HR6V51&qid=1672516296&sprefix=channel+lock+oil+fil%2Caps%2C680&sr=1-3-a73d1c8c-2fd2-4f19-aa41-2df022bcb241-spons&psc=1&smid=A396VE7I7PU49&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzM1pISjJNSUpRRTc3JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDA1NDk0SE0yNkFPMEw2UFhYJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA2OTM2Njk5NUZLNjZZU1cwWkwmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9zZWFyY2hfdGhlbWF0aWMmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl
