Night Owl Camera System 4 Channel 1080p Wireless Smart Security Hub, White (WNVR201-44P-B)

So I tried another wireless security camera set before I tried night owl and unfortunately had to go through the huge hassle of removing another set and sealant I used to install a new set, the issue I had with the previous set was getting a decent signal from the rear camera I mounted on the 2nd floor & the NVR is located in the front of the house 1st floor. Well everything is set up now and running great! I did have a similar problem with this system as far as the 2nd floor rear camera getting a weaker signal but not as severe, the signal is 3 bars out of 4 which slightly takes away from the quality the camera records and displays at so I used the wired 6 foot antenna and hooked it up to the camera outside & sat the antenna on a dresser on the 2nd floor & the camera gets a much stronger signal now always displaying decent quality with -1 bar - full bars & there is never a missed second or drop out which is why I really like this set, I also want to note that the rear 2nd floor camera has a brick wall in between the home and the camera, I also have a camera mounted in the front of the house beyond a brick wall but that gets a full signal and is very clear just like the one located inside the home. I still occasionally get -1 bar on the signal leading to a slightly reduced quality on the 2nd floor rear camera but it never cuts out or misses a second. The NVR is packed with features and the mobile app is convenient and I love being able to monitor my home remotely while at work, the motion detection has a lot of customization which is nice since you can choose which areas to detect the motion & the sensitivity, also you can fiddle with the channel the wireless system operates on which may help the signal but I have not had time to get into that yet. I am very glad they included the 1 wired antenna so I could get the great picture I am getting on the 2nd floor rear camera because without it the signal was nearly poor quality, you may want to check the signal before sealing around the cameras to see if you may need to also use a wired antenna that is positioned inside but hooked into the outside camera, I did find they are sold on Amazon in case you need more then the 1 included with this set.The cameras are already synced with the NVR so there is no customization needed on the cameras, all you have to do is boot them up and you are good to go! The night vision is okay and easy enough to distinguish a face and figure of something but not from too far away. Overall I am satisfied with the cameras, the attached pictures are night time and it is very dark in the rear pictures, daytime video is very clear! this cameras are not as good as you may think, the app has a restricted features to play back video (stupid) this should be the most important, feature on your app so that you can view back what had happen.the system lags a lot and the range is very bad. I have an 800 sf open space store and the camera near the street keeps frozen up because the range is very bad.so If you need 4 cameras right next to each other in an open space they are great, but if you put a wall between them!!! you will have problems.not worth the money

I couldn’t give this camera set more than 3 stars. I wish I could but let me explain...First off, the best solution for any outdoor camera set is a wired solution. If you live in a 1 story home and have access to your attic, buy a wired security camera set, either pay someone or get up in your attic and run the cables from the camera to your recorder box.Once that’s done, everything will work great and you will be very happy the results.The other options : wireless or battery powered camera sets just aren’t as good - and that’s the truth.When it comes to video, and particularly live video feeds like what you expect from a security camera, wireless and battery powered are secondary options that deliver a secondary and lower quality result.Pros:* This is one of the better wireless security camera systems available.* The system is good for motion detection and video capture from that motion, not for live video view.Cons:* The wireless range is less than advertised. I am sure the company will explain the limitations of wireless signals thru walls and such. The end result is that the wireless range is not as advertised so, the cameras need to be closer than you probably want.* Since the system establishes it’s own wireless network, you can’t use anything like wireless range extenders on the system to extend your range....you are stuck with the limited range.* The app works. That’s about all that can be said about it. Most of the controls for the system have to be accessed via the console, which will need a monitor and mouse.The "live video" still isn’t live video. It still seems to be snapshots of video.

I purchased these after trying out Xfinity home security system. Thank goodness they have a 30 day money back guarantee. Their night vision is useless!! Night Owl camera's are awesome. I had the Xfinity tech watch their video and the night owl - they were amazed. Plus Night Owl's camera system is cheaper and there are no monthly fee's!! I am a 62 yr old female and I was able to set up and install my own system. Just remember to "pair" your cameras with the NVR "before" you take them out and install them. 😀

I couldn't get the cameras to connect or work, I called Night Owl tech support and the tech couldn't help me at all, it was a joke, bad customer service and a bad product to buy, be careful
