It's a hammer
It's a hammer, it's designed to be heavy and encourage big things to become smaller or tight things to become more loose. It's generally successful.

Hammer for Ball Joints
Don't be a wuss and buy a 3lbs sledge. This thing absolutely makes getting stuck balljoints out a breeze. This 4 lbs hammer works perfectly.
