Hayward SPX0714BA Key Cover and Handle Assembly

After 20 years with the original part - we bought this, installed in within 10 minutes and it works like new, fantastic!

I was very hesitant to try to replace this part as this was my first year owning a pool. I found a YouTube video that explained the process perfectly and this piece fit perfectly. Just ensure that you have an O-ring that’s in good shape and pop that on. Then just screw in place. Super easy!

Perfect fit, worked right out of the box. As others mentioned, it does NOT include the O-ring, however this is clearly outlined in every Hayward parts diagram for these filters. Don't blame the product or the sellers for something not advertised as coming with it. I did a lot of research before buying and ordered the "cover O-ring" seperately. Took just minutes to pull the old one, lube the new o-ring and gasket on this and the mating surfaces and reassemble. Now my water isn't going out the drain, and hopefully less sand will find it's way to the pool.

This valve was an exact fit and made for a simple and easy replacement. Check your valve numbers to verify you are getting the correct item before ordering It is frustrating that the required O-ring is not included. If the valve is old and faulty you need a new O-ring as well. For the price of this item it should be included

This replacement key cover and handle assemble worked perfectly for replacing my Hayward Vari-Flo XL Valve. No more leaks, easy to turn now. Ours was 10 years old, and just getting hard to turn and use, despite replacing gaskets and springs. Upon trying to replace the spring, the cover broke. Was very glad to find this perfect replacement, after talking with Hayward and In The Swim, we found the part here on Amazon.

Local pool store initially sold me a new gasket that did not fit the Hayward XL. The new valve they were selling was $50 more than Amazon and although I would like to support local businesses, current day requires a budget. This replacement valve was an exact fit and took 5 minutes to pull the old off and drop the new one in and tighten the screws. A+++

I am very glad I bought this item to replace one that the seal had gone on. I also bought a new spider gasket and o ring kit and rebuild the original one so I have a back up. That job is NOT for someone inexperience with tools and not for a person who is impatient. It took me over and hour to very carefully remove the old glued in gasket and replace it. It worked very well and is good as new but if you are not like me I suggest just buying this item and avoid the rebuild. Turn off the pump, loosen 6 screws, swap units, replace the screws and you are done. Easy Peasy! My only complaint with this item is that it DOES NOT include a new main O ring. It really should have one. So if your old one is still ok save it, clean it and lube it to install in the new unit.

If this part of your pool filter breaks, and leaks, or sends the water to the wrong place, you need one, and it has to be this exact part, and it has to be Hayward. You could try rebuilding it by replacing the O-rings, or the spider gasket or the spring, or just get this part, making your life easier and bringing your filter back to almost brand new. Glad I finally made the right choice, albeit after some unfortunate trial and error. Mine arrived with some slight damage owing to shipping or warehousing but that's not Hayward's fault, it's the vendor's.
