My Husband's Daughter: An absolutely heartbreaking and gripping emotional page-turner

Thought provoking, inspiring and heartwrenching
So when I read the reviews for this book, everyone spoke about how it made them sob and how it touched them. Though I'm sucker for high emotion novels, I didn't think that would've been the result after I finished this. More on that later.Reading about love is cathartic. Not just the romantic love with all the spine tingling chills and heart melting words. But the familial bond that we are all familiar with. The love that is unspoken, but so raw and visceral. The love that takes you back to your childhood. The love that makes you think. As soon as I started reading this novel, I knew it would be one that I adore. The couple (though not perfect) reflected the intricacies of a relationship, built on commitment and forgiveness. Cara and Sophie created a fissure in my heart at how their story began and how it would inevitably end. With tears in my eyes, and an imagination too real to recount, the last few chapters of this novel tore through me. I felt like SCREAMING into the void, because, yes, life is unfair, isn't it? We can't change a lot of things that have happened to us. Doesn't mean we won't try, right? At the very end, I loved the love. The love that felt so real, so permanent, the love that transcended from the novel's pages. The love that reminds you, as lonely as this world is, there are people who make you feel less alone.I absolutely adore this book and would recommend everyone to read it! This is coming from a person who doesn't think much about reading Women's Fiction. But if you've wanted to widen out your tastes, this would be a great one to whet your appetite.

Unexpected events that alter life plans
My Husband’s Daughter by Emma Robinson is a story about how unexpected events can alter your life plans. On a cold Friday night, Rebecca and her husband, Jack, answer the door to a woman and a little girl. The woman is Cara, Jack’s ex-girlfriend and the little girl, his daughter. A daughter he didn’t know he had. They are shocked to learn Jack has a daughter as being parents is not a part of their plans. They like children but they also enjoy their ability to do whatever they wish at a moment’s notice. Cara comes to them in desperation. She has nowhere else to go. She has a secret, a secret she hasn’t told anyone. A secret with the power to change their lives forever. While Rebecca is suspicious of Cara’s motives, she can’t help but be drawn to the wide-eyed little girl. Will she be able to welcome Jack’s daughter into her home, her life and into her heart? My Husband’s Daughter is described as a heartbreaking, powerful, and emotional story about love, friendship and what it truly means to be a parent. As a woman who dreamed of having children of my own from a very young age and struggling with fertility issues, I can’t imagine life without my children. While I respect people’s decisions not to have children, it is hard to relate to them, especially those who look down at those with children. Rebecca is such a person. She was a character I wasn’t sure I would like because she had the attitude that most people who are childless by design have and it irks me greatly. However, as she gets to know the little girl, she is drawn to being a strong individual in her life. Overall, I enjoyed My Husband’s Daughter as an emotional story but not the tearjerker I was expecting, especially after Cara’s motives are revealed. I recommend My Husband’s Daughter. My Husband’s Daughter is available in paperback, eBook, and audiobook.

love this author
And this one was incredible. At first I thought she was going for a “see all women really do want kids” but that was not the message at all, if there even was a message. Incredible story.

Beautifully heartbreaking
I did not expect to like this book, but I ended up loving it. It's how I felt about both Cara & Rebecca. I didn't expect to like them, but fell in love with them.Being a mom, they both pulled on my heartstrings for different reasons. The characters came alive in this story. So well written and heartbreak.

I was in and out of the story
I wonder if there are men who read women’s fiction…maybe, but not the men I know. The genre might be specifically referring to women, but men figure a lot in these stories; obviously because they are one of the many issues women face! Hahaha! Pardon me, I just needed to crack that because the plot of this book was quite heavy.Don’t be quick to come to conclusions based on the title - My Husband’s Daughter. Oh yes, definitely there was another woman, but it’s more important to focus on the child; on the daughter. What do you expect from a story starting off with the wife coming face to face with her husband’s old girlfriend, with their daughter in tow? Surprise, surprise, right? More comes after the surprise, and the plot thickens. On the other hand…while this was supposed to be a heart-wrenching story, my emotions were in and out of it. Maybe because of the writing style: a matter-of-fact telling that reels your mind, but not so much your heart in. Yes, I felt the angry moments, and there were times when I felt close to tears, but somehow I snapped out of them sooner than I would have preferred.Overall, it was still a good read. It took me some days to finish and I’d probably have gotten a different experience, and given this a higher rating had I read it faster.

good if a bit predictable.
You know by the second page of this book what is going to happen, but still it’s worth the read if you like an easy escape from reality for a bit.

Get ready to cry
Have plenty of tissues on hand. I can't even begin to tell you how many times parts of this book brought me to tears. Through all the tears I still couldn't put it down. Wonderful story with a happy ending. Loved it.

Heartbreaking
An amazing book that is written to your feelings. You can’t leave it without some tears and heartache - but, in a very good way. I don’t want to say too much so to spoil it for others. But, it shows that love can change people and their hearts can change too.

Beautifully written
This is the first bkkk of Emma Robinson i have read. Finished in 2 days. Wonderful read and great book to dive in to. As a mother I could put myself in Caras shoes. As a Rebecca, I sympathized with her stance. It gripped me beginning to end. Twists and turns kept it interesting albeit somewhat predictable, it kept me reading and becoming emotional.I'll be getting more books from this author for sure.

Tears
Oh my goodness. This story was both heartwarming and heart wrenching. Just as I thought I’d figured out what was going to happen next the story went in a different direction. This was definitely one to read at home and not in public because it’ll make you cry. Loved the story. So well written.
