Thoroughly recommended PRINCE2 Study Guide - Use as a supplement to Offical Manual
During my study time for the PRINCE2 Foundation & Practitioner level exams, I really struggled with the Official PRINCE2 Manual. Perhaps just me, but I found it particularly difficult to follow and found it dry - didnt feel as if I grasped the concept at all. The e-learning course I had subscribed to was dull with swathes of diagrams just picked directly from the Manual.....So I thought perhaps I need a different approach and decided to spend a few quid on David Hinde's Study Guide. I can honestly say, I found it very interesting and a refreshing look at all the themes, principles, practises, work flows etc. It is really easy reading and an excellent supplement to the Official Manual. Notice I use the word "supplement" as you must study these 2 as one training package. David makes this clear too that you must use both as the Official Manual has lots of phrases and sections to remember verbatim for the exams!David's style of writing is really engaging, and has examples from his previous projects which really give an insight as to how you use PRINCE2 in real life (yes, I know, very few Projects use it fully, but all is explained in the Tailoring section). He gives some great tips on what you MUST know for each exam, where best to quickly find info during the exam (very useful as time goes real fast believe me) and some useful exam techniques. Sure, there is repetition in the book, but I found that really helpful as reminders! However, a few words of caution - The book and online account (free!) include exam questions for both Foundation and Practitioner, but I found them somewhat easier than those which I found on the web or as part of my e-learning Course. So you MUST look around for more questions. I whistled through the questions in the book and was really chuffed with my scores....and then tried an online exam paper. Yikes, that woke me up. So just a word of caution. But overall, a really excellent study guide and thoroughly recommended to anyone to use as a supplementary source of learning. Well worth the small investment as exam retest fees can be huge!Passed the exams with this! Thanks David :-)

Great Book!
I bought this book after reading the positive reviews and I have to say - it's worth every penny.Pros:+ Great for beginners/advanced users alike+ Readable ~ dense material made instantly accessible through informal writing style+ Comprehensive ~ easy-to-understand fictional case studies and example scenarios throughout+ Extras ~ also provided with the book is access to free software you can download and use at home, which includes access to revision flashcards and practice exam papers amongst other features.Cons:- Lengthy ~ requires a certain commitment to read it. My advice would be to leave a bit of time to read the book and really apply yourself by making full use of all the content provided

Must have if you are preparing Prince2 exams
I am preparing the Prince2 foundation and practitioners exams in a self-study mode. I am not keen to spend £2K for a 5 days rushed course.I purchased the official manual: I was puzzled as it is ridiculously messy. I searched on Amazon for alternatives and I came across this book: it is excellent. It explains the basics of Prince2 in a very neat and easy to follow way. it links all the levels of project management to the 7 processes and the 4 levels of management. I really like the examples (very pragmatic and to the point). The author knows his stuff and clearly knows how to deliver the message. The book follows the Prince2 syllabus and has plenty of mocking questions taken from the actual exams papers. This book provides you with a solid base to pass both exams and actually understand Prince2 without spending a fortune by enrolling to the 5 days courses. A must have for any Prince2 student. The price is amazing considering the high quality of the content. There are sample papers of both the foundation and practitioner course. However, if you are taking the practitioner exam you will need also the official manual as it is the only P2 book allowed at the exam.**NOTE the book contains a link to a study guide on the Wiley website. The files are NOT compatible with Apple OSX7 - even if you have Windows for Apple. there is no way to open the docs. Very disappointing.

A must-have for Prince2 certification
This book is fantastic!I used this book for the Price2 Pracitioner re-certification exam having got the certification 5 years earlier with only the Prince 2 official manual. Having done it with just the manual, and now with this study guide, I can safely say that this book will not only save you countless hours of study, but also keep you interested in the subject matter you are learning (using the manual alone is incredibly boring!!).You are told everything you need to know for the exam, there is no excessive waffle and the book is structured very well. The chapter summaries help to refresh your memory in an instant if it's been a while since you last visited the material. There are a lot of foundation and practitioner questions in the book and the online material includes all of the foundation questions in the book, almost 200 flashcards and another practioner practice exam. It's these tools which really help you get prepped for the test.I can't recommend this book highly enough.

David has written an excellent self study guide for the prince2 exam which i think takes a dry subject and makes it enjoyable and easy to follow. contained within the book is need to know information for any project manager or manager in general with some real world examples thrown in which helps to show how it all fits together.I personally am a fan of the self study angle but like being in a class you need to commit to knowing the information contained in this book 100% to progress, I studied this guide cover to cover and still found the exam fairly tough. i would recommend this book to anyone looking to attain Prince2 Certification.
