I much prefer these to the filtered pools that are so popular...(m)
Those filtered pools are quite expensive for a "throwaway" pool, they kill the lawn, the inflatable top rings can be destroyed easily, and I prefer not to have my kids gulping, breathing, and soaking in chlorine all day. That, and they still are hard to keep clean--the filters clog readily and don't work well, especially for sediment on the bottom. Use a footbath with any pool. The snapsets are easy to skim--just squash down one side and let the water spill over the edge. As long as the sides aren't sharply folded (which causes cracking--always fold the sides in from the vinyl floor!), and rocks and other sharp objects are forbidden, they last at least all summer. It does take a few bodies to put a large snapset up, but even a toddler can help hold up a side while it fills. If you absolutely must go it alone, carefully-placed buckets or lawn chairs can do the job nicely. You must have level ground, as with any pool--but these are fairly forgiving of irregularities. Yes, you do use up water with these, as it goes slimy after a few days. But by then, it's time to give the lawn a break--and it gets a good watering at the same time. These things are a cinch to empty, and if you wipe the bottom with a cloth or soft brush to loosen dirt and slime before doing so, it'll be all set for the next filling. The biggest advantage, of course, is the low price. When someone punctures the bottom or cracks the sidewall, you just buy a new one--and still come out way ahead, financially.

Great..
I ordered this pool because it doesn't inflate like the last kiddie pool we had, which i had to throw away.. birds were landing on it & drinking out of it and they popped tiny little holes in the pool. (I couldn't find the holes to patch.. just as well.) It only lasted 2 summers. Pool arrived in record time, even though it was standard shipping. Pool is a little hard to get standing when new, i needed 3 plastic chairs to keep it up while filling it with water. Once filled it stays up fine. The one i recieved has fish on it.. VERY cute. It shipped in original box. I would reccomend this to people with children as it isn't very tall. (kiddie pool) It arrived fed-x at night, but my kids were playing in it the next day. The kids love it! UPDATE: October 05, 2007- Ok we have not had this pool long at all (not even a month yet) and it has been used normally.. and the pool has had holes already where water is leaking out! (Defective??) Anyway, i bought a patch kit and fixed the holes.. but there are always more to be found every few days.

Defective Product - Save Your Money
We bought a pool from Target and it worked great all summer until our 100 Lb dog decided to jump in and play, ripping a hole in the bottom of the pool. We searched high and low to get a replacement and every store was sold out, so I came to Amazon. This pool was priced well and IN SPITE of the reviews that complained about the pool not holding water, I placed the order. We were able to fill the pool twice with water and enjoy it. The next time we tried, the pool was about half filled when the sides gave way and flooded our yard! We tried again and same thing. The sides collapse outward and a rush of water pours out. It was only $20, so no big loss... but the one from target was just a couple dollars more and lasted almost the entire summer with at least 20-25 fills! ***Bottom line: Do not waste your money. This is a completely defective product.

Ignore the bad reviews! It's a very well-constructed little pool.
This is a great pool for kids from toddler to older! So what if set-up requires more hands than you have alone? Apparently you have kids that want to get the pool ready, or you wouldn't be ordering the pool, have them help hold the sides up for a few minutes until the bottom is an inch or two deep in water and then the sides will then support themselves. It's a 5-minute process. Also, if your kids are too young to help, then this pool is too big for them. 18" of water is too much for a child smaller than 2-3 years. My 2 1/2 year old helped hold the sides up. Not to mention if your child is smaller than that, they won't be able to step over the sides and will collapse the pool trying to get in or out. Get a smaller pool. Don't blame the pool maker and give the product bad reviews for what amounts to your poor choice in ordering. The large sides collapsing into the water are not a comment on the quality of the pool. Once it's a few inches full, they stand up and it will fill without supervision. This size is a great compromise between tiny kiddie pools and bigger above-ground pools. My kids ages 2-12 all love it. Big enough for the big kids to have fun, small enough for the toddlers (I make them wear a life-jacket unless I'm in the yard with them). But I digress--the pool is well made and doesn't deserve the poor reviews from people who can't manage to fill it up. They have the problem, the product does not have a problem. It's a well-made product, just as described by the manufacturer and sellers. The other option (my preference), get some Gorilla brand clear (marine-quality tape) and tape pool noodles around the top edge. Keeps the sides up while it fills, and will stay on for as long as you have the pool. Problem solved, except that you lose the complete collapsibility of the pool, so it depends on what you want. You have to pull the bottom of the pool out to make a circle before the water gets too deep. Otherwise the pool can't be expanded any more. Again, user error, not a problem with the product itself. If it had loops to stake it out or something, it would work without help holding it up, but that would defeat the simplicity and the low cost. All-in-all a very good product.
