I have been in locs for over a year now and I started seeing grey hair but just mostly at the widows peak and scragglies around the edges here and there. I did my initial wash (no conditioner) of my hair/locs in the shower. Got out, mixed this shampoo and added it just in front with one of those brushes foe dying hair salons use. I washed it out in my kitchen sink which is stainless steal. No stains in my shower and none in my sink. I'm not sure why someone with showers that have materials that stain would use this in the shower. I don't recommend it. Any way, washed out the dye shampoo thoroughly, then added conditioned and let that sit for 5 to 10 mins on my hair. Rinsed. Then added a bit of leave in conditioner. I recommend this product!
