Wound too tight, snaps often
Terrible product. It snapped on me so often I spent more time disassembling and reassembling the streamer to pull the line out than I did trimming my lawn edging. It was also wound over itself in each of the compartments so the automatic line feed didn't work because it kept catching on itself. Returned so I can use the original spool and I'll re-wind it with cheap line from the garden centre. The return of the product is also a faff - I can't just take it to the Post Office 100m down the road and have to drive across town because Amazon have insisted on using a Royal Mail label printing service which very few PO's provide. It's barely worth returning considering the cost of it and trouble/expense to return it but I hate being sold junk.

Over-wound Line, Breaks Too easily
I have been having loads of problems with the line breaking on this new spool, and thought it was because I was strimming too close to a hard object. I re-fed the spool according to the instructions more times than I care to think about, until I finally had enough and checked the spool itself. It turns out that the line has been OVER-WOUND, that is, the line has been wound over itself, trapping the free end of the line under the windings on top - or wound just too tightly. I would return this for a refund, but I have just missed the "Returns" window. Poor assembly, poor quality control. Angry? You bet. If this is a genuine Flymo product, they need to improve their quality control.

Okay, but could be cheaper
Like so many things - printers being one prime example - one is essentially caught up in a kind of 'ecosystem' where one is forced to buy only the specific serviceable parts, be it ink cartridges or in this case strimmer cartridges.Yes, there are alternatives products but there are often incompatibility issues or difficulties in fitting third party alternatives.Herein lies the trap in as much as the name product is often ridiculously expensive. At nearly £10 for a reel of strimmer string this is case in point. While it does do it's job, it is very expensive for what it is. It is also a little fiddly to fit and despite claims it rarely auto feeds and one has to frequently rejig the spool and pull out more string.Okay, but could be cheaper

Poor product. Not genuine. Counterfeit. These people need locking up.
This was not a genuine FLY021 product. The real product has a twisted square section and is about 1.2mm section. This one is 1.6mm circular section and will not easily fit the spool holder and is almost impossible to push between the guide pillars because it is too thick. Also, despite arriving in what looked like genuine Flymo packaging, I believe this was a hand rewound product as it was clearly not machine wound. In fact it looked liked it had been hand wound by a blind monkey.I will never buy another product from this supplier.I have a large garden with lots of edging and for 10 years now have successfully used a flymo contour 500 strimmer with many replacement spools. Until today.Very poor product.

undoing the spools
I bought this as a replacement of my Flymo Strimmer spool that had snapped. The item is a perfect fit and my only complaint is that the twin spools love to overlap each other. Don't know if this is a design fault or if I am just clumsy. As soon as you release the first spool, it immediately unloosens itself, and I have to rewind the thing back onto the spool again. At the same time, the other spool does exactly the same, and it is not easy to identify which is the upper spool and which is the lower spool. It gives me lots of frustration. Surely there is an easier way ??
