U.S. Army Headgear 1812-1872

This is absolutely the best book available on headgear of the period from 1812 to 1872. Extremely well researched. Excellent photos and illustrations. Absolutely essential for any student or collector of early American military headgear. Of particular interest to the Civil War collector.

Overall, this book is a good reference guide for the headgear from the War of 1812 to just after the Civil War. The section on ACW headgear had many great photos of original caps, but I was hoping this book would cover more of the origins of the American kepi and forage caps. If you are interested in uniforms from this period, this book is a must read.
