Fast open only fair at first but better with age, this knife really has grown on me!
I have been carrying a Gerber for quite a while, but I wanted a bit more blade for tougher jobs. Well, the blade on the CRKT is excellent, it took a couple months but it keeps getting better. I have used assisted open knives for years, none of them felt this clunky at first but the CRKT got better. After a months use: It grows on me. I have used it so much that I have gotten used to the half twist that you have to do to open the blade. It is slower but not by much. And it has yet to open in my pocket, despite the lack of a lock. And I like the blade even more now. And the blades opening/closing action has steadily improved. It still scratched easily, but the blade and the handle are both very well designed. The lack of a lock is a bit of a downer but I like this knife a lot more today than I did last month.Couple years later: Man this knife has been a real keeper. It is my EDC knife and I find it gets used a lot, and the size is a perfect compromise between utility and being a comfortable, unobtrusive choice for everyday tasks.6+ years later, this is still my EDC knife. The assisted open is better than ever, I have never had an accidental open and the knife takes a good edge and keeps it. Blade locks solidly, still, with no wiggle. Clip is still firm but doesn't tear up or wear out my pants pockets like my other blade does. The black paint has worn off parts of the handle but it is a great knife. I still wish the blade was a bit beefier, but the beefier blade on my Kershaw hasn't convinced me to make it my EDC.

Not too shabby
Nice! I love the serration, comfortable handle and it pops open like a champagne bottle. A little smaller than I was expecting, but that's my own fault. Nice knife.

Wow!!
So, I've always been a fan of the CRKT brand, and this knife is amazing! Here's the breakdown:Pros:-Factory Sharp (really, really, sharp)-Looks really freaking cool-Good ergonomics for handle grip-Solid clip-Veff serations are the most amazing I have yet to see-Really solid construction-Open Assist, is really fast and easy to manuverCons:-No velcro type holder available by CRKT for this knife (I just called them to see). I know it has a belt clip, but it'd be nice to have a custom holder for the knife too that you could attach to your belt.-Open Assist is almost too easy to flip open. Sort of wondering if it may open when I don't intend to do so.All in all, this knife is awesome, the veff serations put them above all other brands, and the price here on amazon is almost half what CRKT's website is asking, yet it's still covered under CRKT's warranty (so long as it's the CRKT amazon store listed as the seller).-Drengskaprvitki

Great knife, but auto
I love the design and craftsmanship of this knife, and it has been serving as my EDC for several months. The blade shape and the Veff serrations are fantastic, and the construction is solid. But I have mixed feelings about this knife because the opening mechanism is too stiff to work properly. In fact, several times it cut my thumb pretty badly while opening. I wound up taking out the torsion bar and now use the thumbstud to open the blade like a regular lockback. If the OutBurst Assisted Opener worked better, I'd give this knife five stars (and if this could be had as a flipper-style available on some of CRKT's other knives, it'd be practically perfect).

This is a nice little knife that could be perfect with a few changes. The blade is very nice with a small profile and nice serrations. The overall size and weight works well for everyday carry. The handle fits well in the hand and the finger grooves provide a secure grip. However, the assisted opening is weak and barely effective. Without an extra shove or flick, the blade does not fully deploy. The CRKT Ignitor series has a much better assist. Once deployed, the release lever is a bit difficult to actuate and once actuated, your finger is immediately pinched between the release lever and the back of the blade. Very uncomfortable and ultimately this did not fit my every day carry needs.

Well made knife
I've owned this knife for about a year now. First, it is a well made EDC knife. It feels as sturdy now as when it was brand new. When new, however, the opening mechanism feels a bit stiff. It breaks in quickly though, but it doesn't get loose. It still feels rigid and tight, and the blade must be relatively hard. I have used it regularly, and it is quite sharp after many months. The Veff serrations are really brilliant. They cut well without the typical raw ripping associated with your average serrations. The hard "plastic" handle cover (pock-like) design seems like it could get slippery although I've never had an issue with this. The contoured handle provides a solid grip. In addition, there are ridged notches near the index finger and thumb holds that provide extra stability. One thing I really like about the knife is the ability to remove the open-assist "spring" if you like a more traditional opening knife. If I had to find one thing I'm not 100% excited about, it's the release. It is seen in other knives. A lever at the inside of the handle must be slid over to unlock and fold the knife back down. But even this is not major, as I've found that I am used to it now. Overall, this is a well designed, well thought-out knife. I would definitely buy another if mine were lost. I hope this knife is indicative of CRKT products, since I'm considering purchasing the full size 1091 model of this knife.

It's okay.
It's a good looking knife with a very aggressive serrated blade. Like other people have said, it is a little difficult opening the blade. I guess the main thing I dislike is that the blade release lever doesn't stick out far enough to allow myself to close the knife with one hand. Overall it okay.
