Wonderful tool
This is the best peeler I have ever used, and I tried a fair number of them in my search for the best ambidextrous peeler. The previous reviewer, who didn't even take the time to write a real review, obviously also didn't take the time to try it before writing a negative comment. I am baffled by people who will write a review that is of no use to anyone, but these days I'm baffled by a lot of things. I hope to set the record straight about this tool.I just bought a new one to replace an identical one, except in red instead of blue, that had been used regularly for at least 15 years. It finally broke, but I take responsibility for being in a hurry when peeling yams with big knobby eyes on them. I should have cut those off with a knife first. I actually bought two this time because Kyocera has introduced a much more complicated version with an adjustable holder and I feared that this model may get discontinued. If I only get 10 years life from each, that should be enough for me.No, it's not a totally indestructible metal peeler with the crude metal blade like my mom used, which will last forever but does a pathetic job for that lifetime. I used one like that while waiting for my new one to arrive from Japan, and was reminded from using it just how good this peeler is. It is a precision tool, made in Japan, where cooking utensils are designed to accomplish their intended purpose easily and effectively, and where the sharpest blades are to be found. If a person is heavy handed, they could certainly break it, like I eventually did, and I was dubious of the ceramic blade when I bought the first one but there wasn't even a chip in it to the very end. The blade holder broke. I could probably have super glued it but for a little over $8 and free shipping, I figured I'd get a nice new one. What this peeler does so well, that no other peeler that I have tried will easily do, is take off a very thin slice of peel, which over a long period of time translates into a lot of vegetable that is not wasted. This is because of the razor sharp ceramic blade and the very shallow set of the blade in the holder. It is very lightweight, which I guess is why the previous reviewer thought it felt flimsy, but it's strong enough for the intended purpose and is effortless in the hand. The other thing I like about this peeler, as I am left handed, is that it is ambidextrous.I paid a lot more money for the first one I bought than I paid for these. I think they are a real bargain for someone that enjoys cooking and likes kitchen tools that do their job well.

Stays sharp
Love this. Cool color makes it easy to find in the drawer, and because the blade is white you can easily tell when it is clean ‘or not - depending on who does the washing up). I confess to cleaning it with a dilute solution of bleach every now and again. When I do, the blade looks like new. I could never do that with a metal blade, it would rust. One last time. Because the blade is ceramic, when you peel an apple and leave it, it does not go brown. It stays just like it looked before you started. I would recommend this and a ceramic knife to anyone who likes to prep ahead. You can make a fruit salad in the morning, then serve it in the evening without worrying about how it will look.

Peel me a grape.
I'm not sure what I can say about a peeler. The ceramic ones are a far cry better than Mom's old metal ones. Takes the skin off of carrots, cucumbers, potatoes, and yams slick as a whistle with practically no effort. You can even use it to make whisper thin slices of veggies for salads. This one looks neat and feels comfortable to use. The little open 'nubs' on the sides are very handy for getting at the eyes and iffy spots. Having the 'nubs' on both sides makes the peeler good for either hand. I would have to say that the size and shape of the handle make it somewhat better than my other ceramic one. I use it a lot and have yet to cut myself with it. I don't know if that is because of the design or if I'm just careful. It comes out of the dishwasher like new. If something happened to this one, I would spend the extra money to replace it with another one just like it. I would probably buy another one if they made them in purple.

You Get (Or You Really DON'T Get) What You DON'T Pay For
Very thin junkier version made for Japanese markets (packaging written in fluent Japanese only) rather than similar to my current two that were more expensive. Waited a long time to get this lesser priced peeler- I would rather have paid the few dollars more and gotten a better one, quicker.

The best player you will ever buy
This Japanese company uses a ceramic blade that does not dull. I have been using their ceramic blade products for many years and it never dulls Careless handling may damage the plastic handle and the cutting edge can be chipped by striking with some force. Handle it with reasonable care and you can will it to one of your children

Great peeler
This peeler is amazing. Slices right through even tough skins (like those on butternut squash). Even though the description says "mini" it is not small - really a perfect size - the handle is about 4 inches long and ergonomically shaped so it is easy to hold. Keep your fingers away from the blade, it is sharp! I highly recommend!

Great peeler
Peels a butternut squash in a snap. Thick skins are no problem!

Great peeler - works like magic
Oh my! I was so relieved when I tried it and it worked .. almost like magic! I had another Japanese peeler for years and it broke a couple of weeks ago. I was so sad since I thought I might not ever find a good peeler. But now I found a great one!!
