Q: There was a customer image of the stockpot with rust spots. Has anyone else had a problem with them rusting?

I have had these for 6 years, they get used nearly every day and I have never had any issue with rust at all. Some spotting but Barkeepers Friend took care of that. As for the photo, I can only guess that someone was sold a knock off version or that it had been repeatedly subjected to high temps and harsh detergents opin a dishwasher. I know they are supposed to be dishwasher safe but I always wash mine by hand.

Q: is this Cooks Standard frying pan a truly non-stick surface? Could I cook an egg in it with a little Pam, or other-non-stick spary, and it act like a Teflon coated pan?

Stainless steel works differently than non stick. I do cook eggs in mine with no problem. You have to heat your dry pan until a drop of water "dances" on it when it touches the pan, teh drop of water sort of slides across the pan before it evaporates. then add your oil or whatever you are using let that heat up and then add what you are cooking.

Q: How many inches is its bottom? It says 12 inches; it must its top. I need to know the bottom size for my glass top stove. thanks.

Yes, it's 12 inches across the top. I measure about 9 and a half (9.5) inches across the part that will contact your stove.

Q: My mother is going to be 83 and we want a set of pots and pans that are not too heavy. Can anyone tell me if these are heavy?

Yes these are heavy. I have purchased quite a few pots lately and have found they are all heavy. I think the only why to get pots that are not heavy is to go with Aluminum pots. I'm sorry to give you his news but I had to tell you the truth as much as I love these pots. My husband is 86 & has a problem just washing them for me. I cook, he washs . I hope this helps you.
