Mine works continuously with power bank. I use min inside costumes. Yours is possibly defective & should be returned.

What is the thread size for the mounting screws?

the screws are M4X35mm. The fan is equipped with screws and metal grill.

Has anyone used these inside a welding helmet?

I 3D-printed a mount and put one inside my Lincoln Viking 3350. It’s powered by a small USB battery, also mounted inside the helmet with velcro. Works great!
