Not slim enough to realistically use to attach leader to fly line, even on an 8 weight line, but fine for use to attach backing and cheap for that purpose.

Had a massive one of these on my pike fly rod that kept knotting up and was too big to add a leader and cast properly. Bought theses at bargain n 50lb should be plenty for pike, heat srink n dab of gorilla glu to secure it. N plenty for friends
