It's a cable. One of those things that allows electricity to flow from one end to the other. Yes, those things that have been around for a while now. But still they've managed to find a way to charge thirty english pounds for it. And perhaps Apple have charged them loads to use the trademarked lightning adapter, so you'd imagine they'd say, "OK, it's going to be a bit pricey, let's make this the best damn cable in the world." But what they did was make a lead that is so short that you have to have the keyboard directly next to your IOS device, which makes say, playing in the passenger seat with your phone on the dashboard impossible, or moving the keyboard slightly without dragging your iPad off the table impossible. The cable is about the length of a baby's arm, and you know that anytime you have to take a little human out anywhere, keeping it at less than arms length tends to occupy most of your brain and you find that the rest of life becomes a meaningless distraction. So maybe it is rock solid? As soon as you take it out of the box you realise that it must have cost them about zero pence to make the cable and you get the instant dread, that may never go away, that any minor unnatural movement could damage it. I wouldn't have minded if they'd charged £1 more and actually spent the money on making something good rather than ripping off a customer that they know they already have, because £31 is basically as vile as £30 when buying a few inches of nothing.
