The concept is fine. The exception very poor. It's not rocket science after all and various incarnations of this device have been around for decades. All the more surprising then that the manufacturers could mess this up so spectacularly. Firstly the device is much shorter than versions I have used previously meaning it has limited applications. For example not long enough to get behind the fridge etc.. Secondly the materials used are very poor. On only the second use, the 'plunger' snapped off. Another surprising point to note is that it does not come with the batteries for the torch. 3 button cells (LR44's). I would understand if it took AAA's as these are a bit more expensive. However, I would expect this type of torch to come ready stocked as most people I know don't keep a stash of LR44's to hand. So whilst the price point was inexpensive, it turned out to be a very expensive purchase. Yet something else for the landfill. So incredibly wasteful. I hate to think what the carbon footprint of this device's journey from inception to landfill is/was.

My child had thrown a little toy in a crevice i just couldn't get into without having to spend hours dismantling and reassembling something. Prior to buying this device, I had spent hours trying to prize it out with various tools and techniques.Fast forward to today. I received the delivery of this grabber today. Within 10mins of opening it, I managed to grab and pull out the toy - hence the rush to leave this 5 star review. Only down side is that an unspecified battery was not included so couldn't use the light which would have been useful. Edit: it takes 3 LR44 batteries. The light is by no means powerful but I guess it will illuminate the immediate space in front

Gamechanger. Have a drain on the public path outside my house which gets blocked with sweet wrappers etc. I can’t get the top off so have had to try to lever them out with various sticks. This is a total gamechanger - reaches in and pulls out huge pieces of rubbish. And for this price? Perfect

I used to have something similar to this many years ago. This is better though because the bendy stem remains in the shape you put it. (That does mean though that you have to keep straightening it.) It picks up really well. I squirted some WD40 down the stem and the action is a lot smoother now, although it did work fine without the WD40.I've not bothered buying a battery to power the LED lights. I don't think that feature is necessary, the main thing is that it gets into awkward places and reaches things that I cannot.

We wanted a tool to use on the inside of my car lights. We were using two magnets, one inside and one outside, both wrapped in soft clothes, to remove the moisture and grit from the inside of the lights, this tool was slender and strong enough to do that, highly recommended,
