Product description This is the SEELDIVE SD1970, a homage to the legendary 6105-8110. The one that started it all! The 6105-8110 is the robust everyman watch with it's reputation for value upon which the Japanese giant built its name. Produced from 1968 to 1977, the 6105 is considered the most iconic vintage dive watch by many horologists of today- you can still see the influence in modern watches today with the 4 o'clock crown and cushion-shaped case. During the Vietnam War, U.S. troops were known to buy the 6105-8110 at Post Exchanges on military bases in Southeast Asia. Many were worn through combat and made their way back to the U.S on the wrists of services members after their tours were complete. In 1979 the film 'Apocalypse Now' was released, the character Captain Willard (Martin Sheen) famously wears a 6105-8110 throughout the film. This combination of history and film nostalgia is one of the main reasons the 6105 has become so popular. STEELDIVE have re-created the 6105-8110 by bringing together the iconic design with modern materials and reliability. The STEELDIVE SD1970 still retains it's Japanese nostalgia by using a Seiko NH35 automatic movement- considered an extremely reliable, accurate and hard-working workhorse. Furthermore, extremely scratch resistant Sapphire Crystal Glass and a Glossy Black Ceramic Bezel insert ensures the SD1970 retains its charming looks for years to come. Outstanding value, classic 60's & 70's diver homage
Fantastic bargain, this very good quality Chinese homage absolutely nails it, buy one! The case is so comfortable on the wrist due no doubt to the turtle style case (correctly sized unlike the £1,000+ Seiko re-issue of the 6105-8110 "Captain Willard") The SD1970 really is an incredibly good watch for a pittance, but these are the worse things about it; the clasp on the stainless steel bracelet isn't great (easily replaced by a quality milled clasp for £10) There's an excessive amount of branding on the other rubber strap that comes with this watch. Nothing else, mine has excellent bezel action, can't feel any backlash in the mechanism, after fully winding and 24hrs, less than 1 sec lost using atomic clock as a reference. This is the best performance of any of my automatic watches including two Swiss movements. Mine is pictured on a "waffle" strap bought separately. This really is a giant killer, it puts the Seiko re-issue to shame given the vast difference in price. I recommend buying this instead of, and with the cash you saved, treat your wife to a spa weekend and earn some "brownie" points.

Outstanding Value
This watch has the features and feel of a watch that cost five times as much. It has a real feel of quality. It's a large watch and has some weight to it and dominates my 7" wrist but it is comfortable. The ceramic bezel is a joy to rotate and is aligned better than some Seiko's that I own. The lumo is now all one colour and shade (almost) and as good as the Seiko's I own. The bracelet strap that comes fitted is big enough for any wrist and has some real weight to it. The clasp is milled, not pressed. The two rubber straps are nice. Extra pins and tools included was a nice touch. The waffle strap being very supple and comfortable. This is now my go to everyday watch that looks good with the bracelet on for a night out or with a rubber strap as my daily beater. I might have to put it on a black NATO to really complete the look. Making a direct comparison to my Seiko SKX009J1, this is better is every respect and costs half what I paid for the SKX.

ITS A SEIKO 200M DIVERS WATCH FOR A FRACTION OF THE PRICE
Well to say the watch is well packaged I'd an understatement. Comes inside a hard black plastic display box with clip fasteners front and side Surrounded with foam packing , anti scratch pads between the bracelet, and covered in vacuum plastic, a swine to get off but worth the effort. I was like a kid at Christmas trying to get to my present as quick as possible. When finally I'd stripped it of all protection, which is appreciated by the way, because underneath is a beautiful divers watch in all stainless steel, with a spare strap to boot. Can be wound by the crown which is reassuring , I do have Seikos without that feature, and although totally reliable , I still like to put a bit of energy into the mainspring. The finish on the case is superb , flawless of any marks , the bezel is a little notchy but sure, the black dial and chrome hands and large luminous batons compliment each other underneath a sapphire glass. The bezel with its highly polished ceramic insert looks great. This watch oozes quality , its a Seiko after all with a different signature on the dial. Where can you buy a Seiko with the same spec for this money? Exactly, hence I bought this one. It will sit amongst my Seiko collection for sure with pride of place. A stunning timepiece worth every penny. Top marks to Steel dive.

Awesome watch let down by strap.
I have to say this is a nice watch for the price I paid but the strap is an annoying part for me.The box comes with tools and a spare rubber strap that I wanted to use but was unable to.Frustration is a good word as I have over 20 watches all resized and straps replaced by myself but this metal strap will not come off on one side. After 30 minutes of trying to get it off on one side with supplied tools I gave up and refitted the side that did come off easy and adjusted the metal strap. The metal strap sits on my wrist like a very worn 70s strap like my father's Seiko passed down to me, its not horrible it's just a little cheap feeling compared to the watch itself. The watch itself is awesome, clear to read, lovely dial and bezel it's tight and to the marker. The weight of it is just right and has a great presence on the wrist.Nice branding on the crown and smooth winding and screws own, of course hacking as it it an NH35 movement by seiko.Strap winds me up (pun intended) and I will try to get it off another time soon.

Seiko homage, but better than Seiko
This is a Seiko homage, but it is actually better than Seiko in my opinion.Everything is stunning on this watch, case, crystal, dial, crown. Everything was executed with great care and attention. It really puts Seiko to shame when I compared it with a king turtle for which one has to pay 5x the price of this watch. And it has a Seiko movement.I confess that I didn't really trust to buy this watch, but after seeing a lot of reviews I decided to give it a shot. It will be a problem to take this off.The lumen is the best lumen I've seen on watches, amongst than Seiko, Citizen and Orient. The movement, although I only tested out for a couple of days, has kept the time perfectly.Ok, he bracelet and strap are rubbish, and there are some very minor imperfections on the case finishing but who cares when you pay 100 for such a quality watch.I just wish I had bought this before spending on Seikos. That's the best value diver I have in the collection. I'm foreseeing that it will difficult to take this one off the wrist.

Amazing Watch!
Amazing watch for the money. Got a good weight to it, keeps great time, and it feels much more expensive than it is. I am now tempted to buy another Steeldive watch.
