A humble start for this series
Mega Man Star Force is the spiritual successor to the Mega Man Battle Network series for the Game Boy Advance. If you played and enjoyed Battle Network, you will like Star Force. Simple enough. Yes, there are quite a few things that are different, but fundamentally it's the same. The characters are still pixelated sprites, the art style is the same, the music style is the same.If you like Battle Network, you will like Star Force. Buy it.For everyone else who didn't play Battle Network, read on.You play Geo Stelar - though you can change both your first and last name, nice touch - a boy of about 10. Bad stuff happened before the beginning of the game, but you find out about that stuff early on. After some setting up of the plot, you become the Blue Bomber, and you begin your reluctant adventures. Spoiler: Friendship is the most powerful force in all the cosmos, but again, you figure that out soon enough.Tutorials are very important in a game, particularly the first in a series. Mercifully, the game doesn't treat the player like an idiot, trusting that moving around and examining the environment is intuitive enough. Other overworld controls - menu, pulsing in and out, etc. - are taught very quickly through dialogue.Soon enough, you find yourself fighting stuff. Combat takes place on a grid, 5 rows of 3 squares. Enemies have ready access to most of the grid, but you are kinda limited to only the first row, meaning you can only move left and right. I threw in that "kinda" because you're able to lock-on to enemies when you're positioned right, so you can zip in, use a sword or punch or whatever, then zip right back to where you were. Again, the tutorials shine, showing you how to be pro in a matter of minutes. One word of advice: Don't forget that you have access to a shield at all times. The narrative is overly simplistic and gets sappy at times, but fairly well executed. You can zip through the dialogue, or even skip whole scenes. Very handy if you feel like playing through more than once. The world you run around in isn't as open or sprawling as I like, however, there is a sense of urgency and always having something to do that is kept up all throughout, so it never feels like there's time spent doing nothing.Bottom line: If you like Mega Man in general, pick up Star Force. Really, if you have a DS, you can't really go wrong with Star Force

Careful
Game is in somewhat worse condition than I was expecting. The game froze on me on the home screen. I've never had a ds game freeze on me. Maybe I'm just lucky, but it shows lower quality in how it has been kept.

STARFORCE!
Megaman Starforce is still a relevant piece of gaming history be sure to find all of the other current titles as well it is well worth it if you are a Megaman gaming collector. It keeps everything that was relevant in the battle network series intact while giving a fresh new perspective.

Pleasant change
As soon as this game arrived I placed it into my DS and began the adventure. I have heard mixed reviews about this game, some reviews said that this game would not be good because it is not a "traditional" MegaMan game; while other reviews are nothing but positive. I would agree that this game is not like a "traditional" MegaMan game, but it was never supposed to be. Simply put, this game is supposed to follow the battle network series, which it was to a certain extent. The game play is smooth and the storyline may be a bit clichéd, however, there is depth to the characters in the series. Personally, the game hits upon interesting aspects of what it means to be a human. As the game progresses some of the characters are presented with some type of internal conflict and it is up to MegaMan to help these individuals to understand what it is that makes a human human, this is what I love most about the game. The battle style is fast paced but not overly complicated, in this game you will be using battle chips to defeat the enemies just like in the battle network series. The puzzles are a nice change in the MegaMan series, they are fun and easy to complete. The only downside to this game is that it helps to form a brother band outside of the game, just because there are three versions and if you are a completionist and do not have access to the other games it is difficult to get the other powers- for this game you are missing dragon and leo forms which probably would have made the game that much easier. All in all I highly recommend this game to fans of battle network and to people who enjoy a good storyline.

Happy with it
A few times now when I've started it up to play my DS lite doesn't sense the game is in. Other that not being readable sometimes, it pretty good.
