Take High Humidity Out Of A Room -- No Sweat!
Having lived in Southwest Florida since 1981 with its constant heat and high humidity, we've learned a few tricks to help keep collectibles in unairconditioned rooms from getting mildewed and/or rusting. As an example, our youngest daughter is temporarily living in Rhode Island where they are having snow and low 30's for temperatures. Meanwhile we are enjoying record heat in the mid-90's with blooming spring flowers and fast growing grass.Since we have a storage area in our "basement" (actually the ground floor under our elevated living space) that is not air conditioned, we had to figure out a way to properly preserve our collectibles ranging from antiques to paintings. That's how we discovered the effectiveness of DampRid. Since we began using this product we have had no problems with mildew or rust in this room. The main thing to keep track of is how quickly the DampRid containers can fill up with water. I put it on my calendar to check them once a month and empty/refill the ones that need attention. We use everything from the hanging units to the big four pound tubs. So we buy a lot of refill bags. The price of this purchase was the best we could find so we bought a bunch. Can't go wrong with this product.Another trick we learned to help keep the moisture down in our unairconditioned garage is to put in a size- appropriate dehumidifier next to a garage door and feed a plastic tube through the small opening where the door meets the concrete to allow the unit to drain without having to empty the drain pan periodically. All you have to do is to check the unit once in a while to verify that it is still running and that the tube is properly connected and not plugged up,

Great refillable DampRid bag!
This 42oz DampRid Refillable Bag was a gem to find! I have multiple DampRid Moisture Containers around the house. In the past once it was done doing its job I’d dump it & recycle the container. Silly me I had no idea there was a refillable bag full of crystals! One container of DampRid is 10.5oz. This refillable bag fills 4 containers perfectly! The price is fabulous along with the fact I don’t have to buy the actual containers anymore. The bag is designed to refill the containers with no mess. It has its own seal which secures it nicely. For extra security I do fold down & attach a clip. Under my kitchen sink it goes ready for the next refill. The “Fresh Scent” is also delightful. I highly recommend for all of the above reasons!

Economical and easy to use.
Very economical! New Damp-Rid containers are pretty pricey, but they can very easily be refilled, so there's really no reason to have to buy it more than once. Just dump out the collected liquid, rinse and dry, then refill with this dessicant material. You can also mix the unscented refill material with a little of the scented very refill material to control the amount of scent (which can be rather overwhelming with straight scented material). Recommended!
