Barron's PTCE/Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam with Online Test 1st Edition

I have some many study guides for the PTCB exam& I came across this book& read the reviews& was blown away. So I ordered a copy& it came fast as always& wow this book is amazing!!!!!!. If you're still trying to decide what book to buy or why?. This is the one. It has everything you will need to know. Beautiful book, also very easy to understand as well.

Honestly, this book was everything!! It’s divided into section that shows you the percentage of how many questions could possibly be there. The first section was medication, however I did that last. I started with the appendix, then patient safety and quality reassurance, federal requirements, order processing, and the medications. For the medications, I did not memorize the top 200 drugs, but only reviewed the top 100 commonly used drugs. Knowing these stems also helps. The book has something called the USAN stem for the agents (cardiovascular, respiratory etc). Knowing the stems were a lifesaver. Like -olol is for beta blockers, so when you see a question asking which is a beta blocker, you can take a look at the stem to figure it out. I also studied outside the book, using quizlets, and memorizing the formulas. GOOD LUCK TO THOSE TAKING IT!!

I bought this book after looking over Mosby's PTCB 2E because it lacked structure in the way it presented the information to the reader. This book presents the information in a clear and organized manner and tells you exactly how the PTCE is structured and scored. It divides the information into chapters based on the different types of categories you will be tested on such as pharmacology, sterile and non-sterile compounding, etc. I found this book way easier to follow than Mosby's and easier to understand which helped motivate me in actually studying for the PTCE. However, this book is in no way perfect. The practice tests provide a general idea on how the questions will be presented to you during the actual test but in terms of difficulty I felt that the questions on the actual exam were harder than the ones in this book but if you perform well on these practice tests, you should still be able to figure out the answer but it might take a longer time per question. This book also lacks some essential topics and information that is tested on. For example nowhere in the book could I find anything related to Clark's Rule in calculating a child's dosage. I recommend this book as an intro into studying for the PTCE but highly recommend you also supplement it with another book such as Mosby's in order to ensure you aren't missing out on important information. If you only miss around ~15 questions at the end of the book practice exams, you should be able to pass the test.

The book explains everything you need to know and the several practice tests in the book are very helpful. It is easy to understand and concise.

Great price for a great book! It covers a lot of information that will help you prepare for the PTCE. It's a good reviewer, but it does not cover everything that will be tested on the exam. It includes a pretest, two practice exams at the end of the book, and one online practice test. Very resourceful, because they explain why an answer is correct, and why the other answers are incorrect. I studied this book cover to cover about two to three times and passed the exam my first time! I would definitely recommend having this book as one resource as you prep for the PTCE. Good luck!
