ONLY WORKS WITH SMARTPHONE AND TABLETS, iOS and Android This Made in USA (5 Feet Long) Adapter makes your cellphone able to record anything you hear from both headset, and anything which comes from the ATC to your headset, This adapter works with any smart phone,Tablet, IOS or Android. AVIATION HEADSET ADAPTER , FIXED WING HEADSET ADAPTER , Review: Great product! - Tried it for the first time this weekend. This product worked great and audio was CRYSTAL CLEAR! Review: it works! (for recording Cessna 172 audio) (separate recorder purchase required) - This works really well if your goal is a simple method of recording cockpit audio (ATC, Pilot, & Co-Pilot) - any sound/conversation that "comes out of" the Pilot's COCKPIT firewall headphone jack. Regarding quality, the cable thickness is basically the same as my David Clark DC-One X. To use, simply plug the male plug of the ADAPTER into the headphone jack of the cockpit, plug the male plug of your headphones into the female jack of the ADAPTER, and then plug the 3.5 mm plug of the ADAPTER (yes 3.5 mm) into the 3.5 mm port of your digital (or I suppose older analog would work, too) audio/voice recorder (SEPARATE PURCHASE, see below). And then, of course, plug the male microphone plug of your headphones into the microphone plug of the cockpit just as you normally would. Neatly place the nest of wires into the cockpit side pocket, QUADRUPLE CHECKING that this does not interfere with any flight controls and that you won't slice any cables when you move your seat back and forth - especially in the dark! DON'T FORGET TO TURN YOUR AUDIO RECORDER ON! As a SEPARATE purchase, I use the SONY ICD-PX370 (desertcart Choice) Mono Digital Voice recorder. Two words of caution - I have only flown with this system once (last night) & thought it was GREAT, really great as a training aid for my comms skills. I will try to update this review as I get more experience with it. You can simply play back the flight (in the quiet of your home, probably not in the cockpit) as you watch on Track Logs of ForeFlight and listen on your audio recorder. As best as I can tell, it doesn't matter whether your Headphones and COMMS panel is stereo or mono - most of our Club's planes have newer COMMs panels with stereo, and my David Clark's switch is set for stereo. Next time I fly, I will try to remember to check both the left and right ear cup, but looking at the plugs - I don't think this would be an issue either way. Regarding your digital recorder - consider price, does it have a feature to record only when there is actual audio versus silence, is it "easy" to keep track of the elapsed time or actual time, so you can match the audio to your progress on the Track Logs of ForeFlight. The SONY ICD-PX370 I bought has an OK solution for this, and you can fast FWD scan while listening. No active audio only feature, as far as I can tell. HiPilot has provided a tremendous service with this great, simple, straight forward adapter. (I just wish we could get them to build a simple all-in-one solution - Adapter and Audio recorder, with a few less wires) :-) Update Review April 9, 2022: With a STEREO COMM panel, and your headphone switch (presuming it has one) set to STEREO, sound is delivered to both left and right ear cups of my David Clark DC-One X, while using the adapter.

Cheaper than competitor but works just as good
This is a much cheaper adapter compared to the competitor but with great quality. The audio quality recorded was crystal clear with absolutely zero static noise (used with Insta 360 camera). Be sure to message the seller when buying and let them know what platform (IOS, android, which camera, etc.) you are planning to use the adapter with as they can send you a specific version of the adapter.

It's okay but have some issues
1) if you're trying to use this with a media Mod for GoPro you will have to buy a TRRS adapter to TRS. (GoPro Mod doesn't work with TRRS) 2) the media wire is a little short to use with GoPro mounted in back of your seat. 3) after a month I have sometimes that I have to bend the wire right to left my headset should work.(not the best quality, I don't think the issue is with my new A30, maybe yes that's why I gave it 3 star)
