Cheap...in virtually all ways

I got this for my girls to go with their "nursing" kit. Something to play with but still be real at the same time. It's cheap but it works and you can still see inside the ear but not good like a better otoscope. But it does what I bought it for so I'm happy.

I have to rate this four stars, simply because there are plenty of much more expensive otoscopes, with much lower ratings, on Amazon. That, and I can compare this to another otoscope I bought directly from China a couple years ago, at roughly the same price, which was falling apart when I got it, and went straight into the trash.If you’re buying this as a toy for a child who handles small objects safely, way to go. Great choice.If you have a kid with practically nonstop ear infections, I can vouch for the Dr Mom otoscope as the best way to go. Mine held up through fairly ongoing use for six years, and I kinda think it would still be working, if not for excessive jostling during a move.Since we’ve moved beyond the 8-ear-infections-per-year stage, which endured most of my daughter’s life, I need only something I can hold more easily than my iPhone flashlight, while removing earwax. (speaking of multiple ear infections... gotta recommend having your kiddo’s IgG levels checked if this sounds familiar, & you haven’t identified another cause! Infusions to boost IgG definitely increased quality of life over here!)This is quite durable, only the light isn’t bright at all. Since I’m happy otherwise, I’m ordering a $7 replacement otoscope bulb, and feel this is likely to meet my needs for far less than it would cost to replace my Dr Mom otoscope. BUT... something to consider before you buy, that to be usable, ours will become a $10 tool, not a $3 one.By the way... It’s important to realize that you can get two completely different products while ordering from the same listing, especially on direct from China products. When a seller has a listing that’s been granted easy searchability by Amazon, it’s smarter for them to switch out products than to create a new low ranked listing, when the seller runs out of the original product.Seems as though some of the other reviewers may not have received exactly the same otoscope as I did.

I bought this unit for my daughter to check her kids for potential ear infections. I gave her a demo how to use the otoscope and what to look for. She wanted a way to see if a trip to the Medic was necessary. This unit is ideal for a glimpse at a TM to see if further treatment is warranted.

This was such a good price I brought my daughters each one.
