Easy to read and thrilling
My ten year old loves this book. I needed to explain the context. The description of the Afghani mountains is vivid.

As a 5th Grade teacher, I could not recommend this book enough times!
As a fifth grade teacher, I love this book! It has become a fan favorite of several fifth graders I have taught over the years as well. Alan Gratz is an amazing writer! I love following the story of Brandon and Reshmina with the use of his incredible details, descriptive action points, and an ending that will bring everything together with a WOW! If you have a child in the 9-12 age range, this book is an incredible buy!

The story is very good, and it keeps you hooked from start to finish.I think it would make a great film!

Hardest one of Gratz’s books
Personally, this one was hard for me to read. Probably, because I have my own vivid memories of that day. He does an excellent job showing the life of Afghans and the many hard ships. It is worth the read.
