One of the smartest fiction books I've ever read; brilliant plotting and intricate details that come together at the end.

Amazing read
Could not put it down - It was as if I was living the story - I felt as though I was there - well researched

Excessive Minutiae
A well written piece of historic fiction. Despite the excellent writing and Forsyth's obvious extensive research, I found myself bored with the overly long descriptions and the side-tracks into peripheral story lines. For example his description of the rifle used by the assassin takes up a full chapter which may be technically brilliant but didn't hold my interest. To me this novel was half-again longer then the material could support.

One of the original action thrillers.
Fans of James Bond, Jason Bourne or Sherlock Holmes will appreciate the thoughtful plot. Extra star was awarded for being one of the pioneers of the brainy action thriller novels. I appreciated the authors ability to be true to the story and build believable ancillary characters. The tech and weapons seem a bit dated now but they should as this story is almost fifty years old but still a really enjoyable read.
