You are not supposed to turn it up. You have to suck on the straw, pretty hard. It does take the chlorine taste out really well. **Q: Can I filter and use for hot water, normal filter says only for cold water?** A: The filter is attached to the straw. I'm not sure if there is a temp restriction for the filter functionally, but I personally wouldn't dring anything hot through the plastic straw. **Q: Is the bottle itself dishwasher safe?** A: Hi and thanks for asking! The one downside I’ve found is it really doesn’t fit any vehicle cup holders.
